Anyone else around here take a serious interest in UL camping? What kind of gear are you packing?

I'm not one of the elite ultralight snobs but I do have a bit of a gear obsession and try to keep it light for longer climbs. I love all the seasons.. winter camping & snowshoeing rocks. One of my most intense winter overnights was on top of Old Speck in -50F, at the time using an LL Bean FS1 tent & 5 degree bean bag and was cozy as heck. Until the next morning when we had to pack it in.. talk about cold I thought I was going to lose some fingers.

I won't even try to list everything in my kit but my basic 3-season sleep setup is a Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 tent, Mountain Hardwear Ultra Lamina 15 bag & Sea to Summit ultralight pad, weighing in under 5lbs total. Packing in a Gregory 50L, MSI pocket rocket & Snow Peak Titanium 900 for cooking and of course a Sawyer mini for filtration.

Maybe I'll throw a real list together if there are any other UL/hiking nerds around here.

Just picked up a pair of Merrell Phaserbound boots today and psyched to get into some climbs this weekend maybe. Not sure anything will compare to my legendary favorites - Lowa Renegade GTX mids, which I've repaired seven times now, but trying something new.

If you haven't been to Tumbledown in Maine it's a super easy and beautiful hike... WELL worth a visit. Swimming & fishing on top of the mountain with exposed peaks all around to hike.
