So 1 of my PC's seems funny

I crank through my usual circus c cleaner, ad-aware, mc affe maintain and virus.

I get to spybot and am casually looking at the file names scrolling past

If the numbers are correct then there are 200000 listed that have the name virtumonde. The mcaffe pops that it sees virtuamonde but can't do anything about it.

Anyone have a real deal that finds this and eliminates it ...may have to be dos level

google for a bootable disk called Ultimate Boot CD & download the ISO image.

before burning to a CD, download updated virus definitions and add to the ISO.

boot the PC with the CD in. it's basically a version of Windows XP that runs off your computer's RAM, but has a bunch of disk and virus tools.

I think I got it with a download from mcaffee

yesterday spybot said I had an unbelievable number of files 700,000

after the mcaffee download it was 318000

Machines seems lightening fast now

I know you fixed it now, but next time try running your virus scans in safe mode. Lots of them do not start up so they cannot prevent their removal.

running a bootable CD would be better than safe mode.
