[Trouble]

Well, for those that may not have heard, I lost my barn monday night. It was a 38'x165' quonset barn that was literally picked up and moved about 100'. It did amazingly little damage to the contents of the barn but it made a hell of a mess. The insurance company is sending up an adjuster on Thursday so until then I'm just picking up the leftovers. What a week!

I haven't spoken with the National Weather Service yet but I know they were notified (the fire department called them). It was certainly some kind of a big gust. All that I can figure is that it blew in the back doors and tore the building from it's concrete foundation. Amazingly enough it picked the barn up and over the sailboats that were in the barn. There were marks on the silo where the barn hit it 40' from the ground. I really wish I had a video of it.

I have no idea about the power boat. I'm know it's a pretty cool old wooden cruiser but that's about it.

Damn! We had a bunch of barns knocked down last year in my town. I was out riding my road bicycle when one windblast hit. I considered taking shelter in a barn, but then though better of it and stayed out in the open with lightening showering down. It was intense.

I'm going up there from 3:30 'till about 7 tonight and probably the same tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be spending the better part of Friday afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday up there too. Gotta get it cleaned up asap!

Gotta revisit this thread with some breaking news. The building company I work for needed a place to store one of our mobile offices (one of those job site office trailers). Figuring a large empty concrete slab would make for a good site I told them they could store it where the barn used to stand, at their own risk of course. In the high winds yesterday the trailer apparently blew over. Photos to follow later, but apparently it's in the middle of the field, upside down and smooshed like an empty beer can. At least this time the cleanup isn't my problem!
