The best I had seen was 13.2 on highway from NH to CT. I know I could do better on flatter ground. 1.5 years ago I installed a 6" ProComp lift and 35's so now the tires throw off the speedometer/odometer and the Hypertech tuner would not allow me to enter a new tire size to recalibrate the speedo. I guess you can't do that with the Allison in the 02' trucks. Next year I'm going to install 4:88 gears which will make the truck feel like a stocker with 4:10's. Mathematically the RPM's will only be 50 higher in OD than a stock truck with 4:10's. Let me know how you like that module. I have the 8.1 in my wifes Yukon XL 2500 and its time to up the power

edit: BTW, I'm a lead foot so my MPG means nothing in the real world

I have a Ford powerstroke diesel - I get 20-22 MPG empty, 14-17 towing a heavy ass horse trailer, and I smoke those 8.1L Chevys.

I've walked away from more than one "stock" 6.0L Powerstroke as many of my friends own them. Not by much but I do get away from them especially on top end. Next time I'm goin diesel for the ease of power upgrade, but I could'nt justify the additional cost when I bought the truck in late 01'

I have the old 7.3L,(truck is an 01) but its not stock.

Actually, I really hated it when I first bought, and it was stock - it seemed to get 14MPG whether it was loaded or totally empty. I bought an AFE intake, a Superchips tuner, and a 4"straight pipe exhaust, and its a lot more fun now

Diesels are an acquired taste....plugging it in gets old when the front of the truck is covered in slush. Also, on cold mornings, the truck flat out wont move for about 15 minutes.

svridah is supposed to be getting a dyno, so we should be able to play around with that soon

My 8.1 pulls like a bear above 50mph but it's kinda sluggish below that. It's all related to the TM (torque management) feature on GM trucks. The Westers is supposed to fully elinimate the TM feature. The redline on my engine is 4400rpm, TM doesn't allow full throttle until the engine hits 3000 rpm

I installed the new computer after work today and just went for a short test ride. The difference is huge, it really woke it up off the line It even seems to shift a little more firm even though it says they can't change anything with the Allison
They say it may take a few miles for the system to learn everything but my first impression is good.

According to the dash at cruising speeds, it seems to be a little better on fuel as well but we'll see on that

When I first ran the truck after installing the map from the Hypertech, all I could do was laugh and giggle. The I tried Tow/Haul mode and holly shit! I use Tow/Haul mode all the time when goofing off. Thats when the truck really shines and puts the power to the ground. Bye bye rear tires
