Price: $25,000. No CDL required.
Thinking about selling and getting into a different variant.
1989 M985 HEMTT Tanker truck. Runs, drives, stops. If you can find one of these they typically go for $35,000 - $45,000. Truck is with a mechanic at the moment because it needs some basic work done, but nothing crazy.
I have service records showing $160,000 of work done. Company selling the truck was asking $40,000 originally. Has 38k miles but a new engine was put in not too long ago.
These trucks were only released to the public for a very short time. Oshkosh has been continually getting DOD contracts to refurbish all HEMTT trucks, so instead of going up for sale they go back to Oshkosh. Pretty rare.
Mechanic told me it needs brakes, tires, and the transmission is slipping a bit. I have a BRAND NEW transmission that will come with the truck, but it may not even need a new one. These transmissions are known to do this but can be fixed without full replacement. But if it needs a new transmission, you have one. Tires are $400 a pop (Michelin 16.00 XZL) and brakes are about $80 a set.

Would these not need to be declassified before they were sold to the general public? Just saying...
Southwick should buy this and use it to water the track.

You know, I was just lugging fuel cans out to my secret air field the other day, in the wilderness, cross country, on uneven terrain and thought, "I could sure use a big fuel carrying rig for this...."

Would top speed be classified also??? Sorry rhetorical question..
Probably tops out at around 60mph but I bet it cruises around 50 nicely. These things have what a 150 gallon diesel tank? Most military vehicles are required to have a 300-350 miles fuel range so with that tank your looking at 2-4mpg... and with diesel around 3$ a gallon your looking at nearly $500 to fill that fucker up.
