Fluff:
The XV535 Virago Special is an unintimidating first big bike. With timeless styling, light weight, ultra low seat height (particularly appealing to women and shorter riders), easy handling, and an absolute gem of an engine, the XV535 was the ‘go to’ first big bike for a generation of riders who wanted easy manners from a cruiser. It is a full featured, classically styled cruiser with a stout, torque-happy V-Twin engine combined with a modern, twin-shock chassis. Yet it's is low to the ground and rides at just 401 pounds. All Viragos were purpose-built, air-cooled, 70-75-degree shaft drive V-twins. As Yamaha's first lightweight cruiser, the XV535 was the most successful and thus long-lived of the bunch. Better still, this is the Special with a plush seat and lots of added chrome accessories. Combining under stressed performance, rock solid reliability, timeless styling, and low weight, the XV535 remained the best of the 500 class of cruiser for 20 years, before it finally went off sale in 2004.
