    1997 Ducati 944 SS/SP CARBON

Posting for a friend. I would buy this myself if I wasn't out of work.

"900ss sp. It is a 1997 w/ 29000 miles. It has a 944 big bore kit, mikuni flatslide race carbs, Arrow Slip ons, FULL carbon body work, fresh tires, new clutch, frame savers, spendy bar end mirrors, big battery upgrade, full floating brembo brakes, fresh chain, sprockets and cush drive, plus a bunch of stock rashed plastic, three seats including a corbin, and the list goes on. The issues: it smokes a bit on large throttle openings and the clutch makes more noise than normal, like a bearing on the transmission shaft is worn? The cool factor is tremendous, but it needs an owner willing to pile on the elbow grease and right now my focus is on my cars. It needs a good home. $2200 No dicker sticker, it could be parted on e-bay for twice that."

Because, I had a 750ss and a 900ss and loved them, plus the sum of the parts is worth twice what he is asking. (The FCR's are worth $600 alone)

    Too much Carbon for you?

Too worked. Plus... "bearing on the transmission shaft" doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

This thing is basically sold if he gets back to me. Just what would compliment my cheapo ST2 nicely.

For what it's worth, I've seen a very worn clutch make a Duc sound and feel like the transmission was about to grenade. New hub/basket/disc pack and it was purring like a kitten again.

That was my original thought Kurlon but supposedly this gent knows his stuff... so I have to look into the bearing issue and see how big a fiasco it will be.
