Bingo. I have had Ducatis I've put 10s of thousands of miles on with zero problems whatsoever. Yet, we also hear of the Panigale's HORRENDOUS problems (6-7 recalls??!?). The 1098s had major problems in their first year as well. To say it's a first generation deal is less chiche than to condemn an entire brand/model line.

Aprillia seems to have a notorious problem with Gen 1 bikes. i had a buddy in cali that worked at an Ape dealer. i called him one day and asked "whatcha doin?" he replied "oh you know, taking 2 shitty RSV motors and making 1 good one"

WHAT?! I love the RC8R, don't get me wrong, but it only makes what 155HP and has none of the modern electronic aides as the RSV4. It's fun for different reasons, but not the same class of bike.

I have been wanting one of these for so long but I am in the same situation as you. I barely ride my 848 these days so upgrading to this would make me feel even worse that it just sits in the garage. GLWS!
