Hey all,
I have this 88 FZR400 that runs great sitting in my garage. It's got some neat parts on it, namely a 4-1 full yoshi pipe (the old round cans) and a WP rear shock. When I bought it I was told it had Ferrea valvetrain parts but I have no way to confirm this, except that the owner had valve lash written on the inside of the frame in sharpie and it does not match factory specs.
It's got approx 8000 miles on it, although I assume they were mostly race miles. Just about everything on the bike is drilled for safety wire. The plastics are in OK shape for a race bike I suppose. It has WERA stickers on it, so some of you guys might know who the original owner was.
I don't know how significant this is, but the VIN number is BEFORE the 'earliest' VIN listed in the service manual I downloaded online. Factory sponsored race bike? I have no idea.
I rode this bike all last season. It took me from Portland ME to Northampton MA and back with no issues getting about 50 mpg along the way. It's a fantastic bike but I have a line on an XS650 and have been wanting one for some time now.
To be completely honest I took most of the plastics off and put on dirt bars for street riding, but the plastics and clipons are still in my garage.
It's difficult for me to decide on an asking price. On one hand it's a rare bike, on the other hand it's not all original, on another hand it's got some cool parts, and on the fourth hand it's seen hard race miles.
But I'm supposed to have a price so I'll say $2,800 OBO, see what I'm getting at? Emphasis on OBO
It will be going on ebay in a few weeks I just wanted to offer it to you all first. It's located in Portland ME
