bull shit!!
The only aftermarket HP work I had done on mine for 90% of its track life was a yosh exhaust and a jet kit. Not even a carb upgrade. It went just fine.
Now its got motor work and it pulls faster and harder, but it was fine the old way for track days at NHMS thats for sure.
Racing is something else...although puppet raced his for a season
EVERYTHING is a repost

I only raced mine for one weekend and I realized it wouldn't cut it. Although I did alright in NoviceI think it's great as a trackday and street bike...too heavy and soft for a race tard.
Are you looking for a street and track bike, or a track/race bike?
Street (with more than the DRZ): KTM LC4 (625 or 690)
Race: any motocrosser - all over supermotojunkie.com
I know where there is a 200EXC right near me... 220lbs, 39hp... it'll beat a DRZ400SM, but that's about it. Current 'big 4' MX machines are around the 235lb mark, 50hp to 51hp rear wheel for comparison, out of the crate even.
I had a DRZ. Can you spend a ton of money on it and make it go relatively fast? Yes. But since you can buy a CRF450 or a YZ450 that will smoke the hopoped-up DRZ for less money than you'd have into a DRZ, I really dont see the point.
So does someone have a new tard yet?![]()
Yamaha
For Track 100%
If you can plate a 450 motorcrosser +1000 for the wheels 600 for the brakes+500(ish) in suspension.
I wanted to do the same thing For the street the Maintainence is what steered me to the DRZ,
So I bought a CRF450R Race tard for the track,
I did not find anything that would do both

Not yet.
I have to finish up the little bit of schooling I've been attending on Friday, and then I will be getting together with the owner of the CRF you posted. Also depends on another lead I have on a bike posted on this site.
I just want to hang out at the track more this summer.![]()
I just got one, but I wont have it long enough to put any miles on it...![]()
