The plan was to meet at the Mt Misery parking area at 9am to ride the NETRA Pachaug loop. I was expecting it to be muddy, slick and very wet from the thunderstorms we got yesterday.
Sean, Leah, Todd and myself getting ready in the lot.
We were on time in off we went! Gravity was strong today as it pulled at least three of us to the ground a time or two within the first few miles. It was a bit slick but not anything like what I was expecting.
The powerline trail bit Sean and he and Leah chose to call it a day early. Hope you're OK Sean
Rest stop after the ledge section of the powerline trail
Leah chose the best line on this one
Once we got to the main road, Sean and Leah went back to load up. Todd and I continued on. Sean was the leader so it was up to us to try and follow the arrows now. The loop is pretty well marked now so it wasn't much of an issue.
I needed a rest after the ledge step-up trail, just glad knowone was behind me to see my awesome form in that section!
The picture doesn't really do it any justice, it's actualy not all that bad as long as you stay on the gas.
Because we followed the arrows and started from the middle of the loop, we ended up at the parking lot at Spaulding and Dow rd, no biggie, just added a few more miles.
Back on track and heading for the mud sections and the Shetucket Turnpike. Remember that big water spot we went around last weekend KB? The easiest line was through the water! Fun stuff.
I had a few more gravity issues in various sections and had enough for one day. Todd and I broke off from the loop at Rt 165 and took that back to 49 and onto Headquarters Rd.
36 miles total and we were loaded shortly after noon time.
Next time we were thinking starting were we left off today?
Good day, thanks for leading what you did Sean and hope you're feeling better.
I cleaned the bike when I got home today, it looks a bit more used after todayHopefully next time there will be no gravity issues

All I can say is that wearing quality gear is the key, I am in a bit of pain but it could have been much worse with out plastic armor.
I was climbing an incline on the powerline trail full of babyheads, one of them redirected me to the side of the trail , I tried to power through it but the tree branches got caught in the handle bars and flung me and the bike to the ground, my shoulder landed straight down on a pointy rock , it felt like I got punched by mike tyson . I also impacted the side of my lower leg. it feel like a deep tissue bruise. I am not sure about my shoulder yet I only hurts if I move it a certain way , I am hoping that its only deep bruising , if I still feel like this in a day or 2 I'll go get it x rayed .
the suck part is that it was a nice day to ride and we were only a couple miles into it at that point .
Looks like I may be taking a few weeks away from the bike to heal up .

Glen Beck is John the Baptist
still sore but I can move it a lot more now that the swelling has gone down . I think its just a nasty deep tissue bruise, I have broken bones before and this didn;t feel like that. But its still going to be a couple weeks atleast before I hit the trails again .
Being on my feet all day didn;t help my leg at all but thats feeling a bit better too .

KB
one week after the fact , still sore , it feels like it did when I bruised or cracked a few ribs a couple years ago. but as with that they don;t do anything for you but tell you to take easy for a while . The impact was straight down on the top but as you can see from the bruise, gravity took the blood south .
it feels like it may be a few weeks before I hit the trails again .
