Hey fellas, I bought some new fox comp 5 moto boots. They are my first proper dirty bike boot and they basically feel like riding in ski boots. Hard to feel the shifter and brake and really hard to flex my foot to upshift. I've been riding in some low cut boots which allow a lot more feel. Is this normal? Something I just need to get used to?
+1
wear it a few times, save ankle in fall, deflect trees/rocks/roots and your own pegs from digging into your ankle...then wear your low cut boots and you'll feel naked without your dirty boots
Make sure you adjust your shifter and brake lever. If you've been using a low cut boot that allows a lot of ankle movement, you'll probably find them in the wrong place for use with proper dirty boots.
are the soles stitched? it they are... fill 'em up with boiling/hot water, let soak then wear them aroundor put 'em on, walk into a pool/shower/stream, wear them or ride with them till dry. flex them a lot. you can also keep working them by hand while watching TV or whatever.

While I've never filled mine up with hot water, I've found that just walking around in them for a while does a great job of breaking in new boots. May look like a tool depending where you live, but soon you'll have comfortable and well protected feet.
And +1 on adjusting the shift lever up....usually 1 groove will do it

I used to love the feel of riding in work boots, until the bike landed on my foot in a crash. The work boot exploded, and my foot was broken in 3 places. I've always appreciated the rigidity and "moon boot feeling" of legit riding boots since. congrats on a wise investment! Those Fox boots break in quick and last forever.
I've got a couple dirt rides on them now and they've broken in a little bit. So far I'm pretty happy with them. Nothing to compare them to, so my input is pretty useless. I move the shift lever up a notch which helped tremendously. Thanks for all your input fellas!
