FYI - I just purchased and installed a new Shinko MX216 90/100-21 "Fatty" front ($56). I really like it, although I really loved the GoldenTyre GT216AA 90/100-21 Fatty as well (about $100). The Shinko is about half the price, and seems to work just as well as the GoldenTyre.
The GoldenTyre wore pretty fast - and only time will tell how well the Shinko lasts...

I ran a Kenda Ibex up to about 375 miles down in WV the week before last. I was starting to shed some knobs, but it still hooked up. It was a lot of mud and wet rocks, so the tire took a beating. The bike's a 500 EXC, which is pretty good at killing rear tires.
'tis the season ... fer fresh marshmallows

Never heard of them...replaces the GR fatty 216aa?
think this is my 4th or 5th IBEX rear, they don't last at all, but boy are they grippy. knobs actually do feel like marshmallow.
i gave up on the Fatty front a season or so ago, got tired of the feel in anything but perpendicular rock hits. moved to the Shinko 90/90 GT copy (little less fat) for a while but it's too stiff and knobs are peeling off already, do not recommend. feels OK at 10psi but still stiff and skittish overall.
since i'm still in love with the IBEX rear, and a buddy has been raving about the IBEX front, decided to give it a go. slick fall conditions will be a perfect test. he likes it most on off-camber rocky climbs.

update on the IBEX front ... lovin' it™ ... little juicy when i first put it on but grip is awesome so far. no bad vibes yet.![]()

Curious feedback on the Ibex front. Keep us informed as it matures..
The older I get the Faster I wuz
I have now done a solid 300 miles on the arena gummy. I like it, but if I'm honest i can't tell a lot of difference between dirt tires. Most of it comes down to riding technique imo. The center knobs have rounded edges but grip is still there. The rest of the knobs still look like new.

that tire felt tall to me when cornering, prob would have changed if i let it wear. don't think i had Tubliss at the time either.
yeah, technique has a ton do with it, a talented rider can rip evil terrain on bald knobs ... for what we normally ride, and my skill level, i feel pretty big differences between knob stiffness and pressures ... but that's usually when goating along in rocky terrain praying for direction + traction, everywhere else feel is less pronounced.

Need to order some new sneakers for the wr250f.
typical new england trails but.....
figure I need some DOT legal sticker on em so I can pass inspection.
Any thoughts?
I passed last time with dirt knobbies but the fellow was " Ill let you slide .... this time"
unless there is some special sticker i can put on and take off just for the inspection![]()

I'm just going through shopping for front rubber.
Bike (KTM 200) came with M59 front and Ibex rear, both half worn or so.
Swapped the rear to an MT16 last year, now time for a new front.
Probably going to just get a new M59 ($90 though), unless anyone's got ideas on similar/cheaper options.

Nope, just picked up a fres M59 myself. lasted 2 seasons of woods.
BTW, After a 150 plus trail miles in WVA with some street transfers, my Arena Hybrid Gummy rear still seems great. The center knobs are rounded for sure, but with these tires it's more the compound than the edges of the knobs providing grip. Going to continue running them as long as they are working. Outer knobs are still sharp and the tire is still gummy as hell.
That's about what I was finding. I could probably keep riding what I've got since I'm not fast enough to tell, but there are a couple of small chunks on some side knobs, and they're also getting the side knob cracking a little.
So figure I'll spring for one and start fresh this year. Sometimes it's just mental too, but worth it.
