Cheap & good being key words. Twin Air pre-oiled is 31 bucks... Isn't that kinda steep considering how often you're supposed to change em?

I buy the Twin Air un-oiled filters just because I never trust they oiled them well enough. Then I clean and reuse them.
Buy 3 or 4, whatever type you prefer. If pre-oiled, run 'em out of the package. Once you're down to one clean one on your bike, clean the rest. If starting with pre-oiled ones that did not begin life with NoToil, get a bucket and clean with gas, then give a second cleaning with NoToil cleaner. If starting with a batch of NoToil system prepped filters, toss in the washer and follow NoToil's instructions. Then oil with NoToil, bag, and use as needed. Wash when down to one clean, etc.
And buy the Twin-Air cover that allows you to clean inside the box and not get any water in the carb....worth all the $$$$ and have 2-3 on hand to swap out, clean and re-Oil. Also with the honda's use some grease around the face of the seal...

2 or 3 No Toil filters + No Toil system = bliss.
i've been running Moose filters (nice price) with the neoprene seal but No Toil eventually made them ultra sticky and destroyed the neoprene. i'm so in love with No Toil cleaner/oil, i'm just using their filters from now on.
either way, pre-oiled seem more of a 'need it in a pinch' situation. keep a rotating batch and you're good. if you don't want to deal and prefer the pre-oiled, No Toils are ~$17 and work great. i have one in right now.
+1 on the cover for cleaning.

Clinton, where ya buy from?
Have a couple things in my motorcycle-stuperstore cart but they don't have notoil filters for my 01 400exc (but they do have em for a 380exc? Didn't know that existed).

NoToil FTW!!!!
You don't really replace them as much as you clean and reuse them. I have a two filter rotation on my bikes but I may buy a couple of extras just to make it easier.
Oh and by the way, if nay of you using NoToil are not aware, the cleaner is the same as oxyclean. Wayyyyyyy cheaper to buy oxyclean in bulk from grocery store or costco/walmart than it is to buy the NoToil cleaner at a bike shop.

I keep at least 3 for each of my dirty bikes.
I use the K&N filter cleaner. Spray it on. Let it soak. Rinse. Let it dry. Apply filter oil. Wrap it in a plastic bag and use when needed.

sweet. i'll give it a try. i've already got a tub of Oxy

No Toil apparently doesn't make a filter for my bike... At least it's not available from motorcycle-superstore or Rocky Mountain (which has better prices... buying stuff from there instead)
Just gettin a couple of Twin Air unoiled filters & a liter of Twin Air filter oil.

I would go with Twin Air + No Toil oil... unless TA makes a bio now
Beta 200RR
Twin Air makes a bio oil - http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...Air-Filter-Oil
Though it says: "Must use Liquid power bio dirt remover to clean this oil."

Clinton, I have been using oxyclean with my NoToil filters since I ran out of my original over priced bottle of NoToil cleaner without issue.
Pete, get the unoiled oil filter, a bottle of NoToil and a container of oxyclean and you will be good to go. Don't bother with the TwinAir specific stuff especially if they require you to use a specific cleaner. When you start using the dirtbike a lot the chemicals add up if you have to use name brand specific things.
Joel
Yeah that's what I was thinking.
Any thoughts on those filter skins things?

Looking at Hiflo Filters in Tucker Rocky's catalog:
99-02 400 EXC (1 hole) - 25-5012
99-02 400 EXC (3 hole) - 25-5013
Also sporting those filters:
KTM 300 two stroke - 98-03 (1 hole style, 25-5012)
KTM 300 two stroke - 04-07 (3 hole style, 25-5013)
Going back to No-Toil that nets you:
KTM 300 two stroke - 98-03 99-5012 (1543 NoToil PN)
KTM 300 two stroke - 04-07 99-5012 (1543 NoToil PN)
Going to No-Toil's site:
http://notoil.shptron.com/p/4-stroke...ce-filter?pp=8
http://notoil.shptron.com/p/all-4-st...ce-filter?pp=8
Tucker's parts listings show the 3 pin/hole filter even when the fitment specifies 1 hole so something is amiss there.
http://www.amazon.com/Toil-Foam-Air-.../dp/B000GTZSUW shows your machine being a 3 holer... unfortunately not available in pre-oiled.
Beta 200RR
Here's what I got.... A dirty TwinAir filter with three holes and a filter frame with one pin....

Here's what I recommend: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Simple-Lux...l-Set/19635147
Just stuff that in there, problem solved.
I think kurlons got it right. IIRC nearly all the ktm 2t for many years use the same filter. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same used in the 4t too. For what it's worth the filter cage for my ktm 200 2t looks just like yours with 1 pin. I have both 3 hole and 1 hole twin air filters and hey both seem to seal and fit well
