Before & After... KX ride report.

Before... (you've all seen this one)

    After

You REALLY can't really get the full effect, but that's one dirty fuckin dirty toy.

As you guys know, this was my first time really riding the KX & lemme tell ya.. i was pleasantly suprised by the power curve... it wasn't nearly as peaky as I thought it would be. Still tough to ride & screams when you get it up there, but not as bad as i woulda thought. It's got enough bottom end & mid-range that I didnt have to rev the piss outta it too often to get it movin.

My first lap around the track was friggin scary though... not cuz of the bike but because of the conditions of the track... holy SHIT was it muddy and loose... i was slippin & slidin all over the god damn place & tryin to stay afloat through a couple of big mud holes... not the kinda conditions that foster an easy learning environment... remember, this was only the 3rd time spending any significant amount of time on a dirtbike in my life. Before this year where I rode Clayton's & Alex's CR125's for a little bit, my prior experience was limited to 2-3 minute rides around a friend's lawn on smaller dirtbikes. So to go out there this past Sunday in Mudville was pretty fuckin intimidating.

Overall, i gotta say I liked Crow Hill better, but MX207 gave me the opportunity to learn what its like to be on really slippery terrain. There were some HUUUUUUGE fuckin mud holes... one stretch had to have been a good 150-200 feet long... basically lean back, pin the fuckin throttle & let it track where it wants to go. Weird sensation keeping it pinned as the bike literally tracks underneath you through the ruts... like Alex said, it's like a slot car. At one point my rear tire stayed in one rut as my front skipped into another... luckilly the ground was like moosh cuz that coulda gotten ugly... i coulda ended up neck deep in mud... the shit was thick & almost knee deep.

Alex hooked me up w/ all of his old gear since all the gear I ordered is still in the mail (thanks again dude)... I got Helmet, Goggles, Chest protector, Elbow guards, Kidney belt, Jersey, Pants, Gloves & Boots all being shipped from www.newenough.com and www.ridegear.com where i got some AWESOME fuckin deals... all that gear and pretty decent quality stuff, too, all for under 500 shipped, total. I found some really good deals. Can't wait till it all comes in.

Anyway, had an awesome fuckin day... Alex let me ride his Honda & I really liked it... gave me some ideas on how I'd like to change my KX. I've got a Renthal top tripple clamp in the garage so i'm gonna put that on & see how it changes things. I'd also like to switch the handlebar clamps around so the bars are a little closer to me. Can't wait till next weekend... gonna either do some trail riding or go back to MX207... we'll see.

Oh... and I didn't even dump it once... I gotta try harder next time

Before & After... KX ride report.

Took me 2 hours to clean my bike today. That mud was like cement! I love that track, I think it's better than Crow Hill since you can open it up more and the jumps / obstacles / features are more varied. You just caught it on a sloppy day.

I took 1 lap on Pete's bike since I was having so much damn fun riding mine around! But it's a long ass track with a mix of everything so...

Bike's impressive. It runs strong for a 02, which isn't surprising considering all the motorwork it had. Overall the two KX250's I've ridden both felt similar, and for sure different ergonomics in comparison to the Honda's. The KX fell 'higher' up in the air and the peg placement is weird, takes a little getting used to. Pete's KX, even thou it was undersprung for me, was very well balanced however and behaved in a predictable manner when hammering. I felt confident in the air on it and fly the friendly skies without much hassle. Power is definintely more linear than a 125, but it still responded best when fanning the clutch out of corners and really running it high.

    Good bike. Great deal.

I'll second that after last Sat. in Franklin. By the 3rd time we wrestled my YZ from a mud crossing you couldn't even tell what color it was. I learned something from that though, never try to follow the same line as Peter through a mud hole. Great ride with all those guys though. We rode hard enough to keep everyone smiling, yet we never left anyone behind.
Peter thanks for the directions on my rebound adjuster. I checked it and it was fully tightened in (all the way in). Once I backed it off 6 or 8 clicks everything balanced right out.

Seriously after we were done riding I looked at his bike and was like "HOW IS IT SO CLEAN!!" comparing the two back and forth. I think going 2mph thru the waterholes give it ample time to wash it off.

Getting lapped does not count as "being behind me"

Yes and I rode more laps in my last moto than you rode all day. Hence falling over twice from sheer exhaustion.

    You
