Well, We had an interesting day at mototown. It started slamming down snow when I arrived, but it never really amounted to anything. Hessoearly showed despite a late night, Black Squirrel was there, and Seth showed later.
My carb was pissing fuel, so I had to pull it, then struggled to get the bike started. Fuel was off... Damn! I'm rusty.
We hit the track and it was a totally new configuration. A nice long lap with LOTS more obstacles, and some that have teeth.
It turns out Black Squirrels aren't made to fly. Or at least not into the face of a double. Dan was down and out after just a couple of sessions. Dude, I hope you're moving OK!
Shortly after he left, I came up short in a wheelie position and got tossed. I rang my bell pretty good. Helmet split my cheek a little. Worst of all I think I broke my pinkie...AGAIN. A little Duct tape and I was good for 2 more sessions.
Seth showed and He and Jay both rode in control for the remainder. Nice to meet you Seth. Sorry we didn't get to dice it up a little. I would have like to follow you around a bit.
Oh yeah, it was fun to watch the Dowds out there ripping it up.
I am hurting, Bruised from the waist to the shoulder blade, I am kinda pissed as Me an jay started to get a good flow out there. I dont think I cut the turn before fast enough and got a little wide going into that triple with the little double cut through. from what jay said idid not hit it straight. Oh well anytime you take a hard one and not break anything is fine. I will be ready roll for next week.
Sucks abut the pinky

I had a great time. I'm not very good at MX, but I was taking it pretty easy and learning the ropes. I'll advance slow. Can't wait to chase you around again next time. Heal up.
Those guys out there ripping are just nuts.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Sounds like an eventful day.
I'll keep an eye on this thread. I don't ride MX (only been on one MX track) but I do want to try Mototown out. I should have the bike ready this weekend. The new big configuration looks like a lot of fun. I stopped in there on Saturday to spectate.

nice to meet you paul...the new config is definitely pretty cool. they really maximize the track for longest lap times possible it seems. Lots of jumps to hit different ways to keep your brain goin too. I had ALOT more fun my 3rd session and on...when I first went out I was soaking everything in and pinballing off crap. Day got interesting by the end, I had some nice friendly battles goin at the end of the day and before that I had a kid cartwheel over a double 4 feet infront of me and snap his bars in half off his bike.
Hope you get better soon squirrel!

Yeah, I've noticed during the week if there aren't that many people there its just open practice and there are some close calls. Really scares the shit out of me when you have a fast guy coming up on one of the kids on the little PW 50's! Glad you guys had fun and hopefully I'll have the bike ready for next time you guys go.
I just remembered too, I heard weird pinging noise on that fast table/triple thing into the fast stepup (on the start straight) the last few sessions and when I stopped riding I had another snapped spoke right next to an existing snapped one I taped up....really glad my wheel didn't give out 3rd gear pinned aha

its really not bad for the most part in mx...the fast guys know how to race tight/pass so they don't really barrel into people. IT gets most hairy around big jumps when slower people pin it, then let off or hit the brakes before a lip. I was passing a dude in nice outside berm yesterday and he had no berm so he came outside and I leaned over right onto his shroud as I was going around outside that was funny cuz it looked like he didn't know I was there til he saw me almost attached to him.

Paul, did you really bust your finger?? hope not!
sounds like a good time minus the get-offs.

Yeah, I broke the pinkie in the 3rd joint. Same as a roadracing get off a few years back. This time it's less painful as I think I have damaged enough nerves up there that it is mostly numb (well, blue and bulbous as well) Taped up it's not bothering me too much. I went snowboarding yesterday no problem. I rode 2 sessions with it Sunday as well. It cramped up pretty bad after 10 minutes of riding, but wasn't slowing me down much.
bummer but at least its almost a non-issue.. .
