So, as you may have seen...I'm getting back to MX after many years of being away (I was 15 yrs old last time). I've been researching neck braces and there seems to be quite a debate about it. I'm probably going to get one, but am curious what all of you think. Seems like the most popular are A* bionic and Leatt. As a noob, I suspect I don't need top-of-the-line to get proper protection. Thoughts?

I'm an absolute believer in neck braces. I have 4 herniated discs in my neck from a street crash. Just wearing the brace to ride (not even crashing) relieves a lot of pain. That tells me it is reducing the amount of movement my head is going through. I have had like four BIG crashes with the brace, none of which aggravated my neck injury.
I think they are all better than nothing, but I feel like the leatt may be too rigid for some types of crashes. I have an EVS unit that is a frame plus soft neck roll. The frame attaches to my chest protector and is nowhere near as rigid as the leatt. I don't think it could injure me more than if I rode without it. I like the Omega design the best just from studying all the options.
I just got the Leatt Club 3. I love it. Dont even remember I'm wearing it out on track. I figure its better than nothing, especially now that I'm getting into jumping, yet I'm still not good enough to know what I'm doing.
love my Leatt, don't even know it's there... but i'm old skool and still wear a kidney belt and chest protector too![]()

Chest protector is old skool now....oh boy, I have some catching up to do this summer......
I would go with a leatt... the pioneered the neck brace and certainly do the most r&d.
I use the A'stars one I don't notice it t all, I landed on my head off a jump and I can still walk and do math. So I am gonna keep wearing it.
