I'm looking to get an air vest or a leatt stx neck brace and wanted to see what would be better. Thoughts?
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle
Are you just worried about your neck, or other stuff? I looked into air vests for collarbone protection, but it seems that most collarbone injuries happen from falling hard on the outside of your arm/shoulder and pushing the bone inward, and not actually from direct blows to the collarbone. And none of the air vests that I have seen protect this part of the arm/shoulder. Given that, I had decided that a brace would be better, since it provides similar neck protection but does not need to be "activated" to function.
Yes it was more to protect my collar bone.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that will protect your collarbone from a hard fall on the outside of your arm is the Dainese D-air suit. Even the D-air vest does not appear to cover that spot.
Others have said that a brace will prevent the lower rim of your helmet from contacting your collarbone after a knock to the helmet. Not sure how common this is.
The Leatt braces are designed to avoid the collarbone while transferring load into your shoulders, but I wouldn't call them collarbone protection per-say. That said, make sure whatever you go with has good NECK protection as well, who cares if your collarbone survives but your vertebrae don't...
These are the 3 ways I can see breaking a collarbone

Heard about yours bud, heal up and hope all is well.
Leatt will stop breaks that occur from the helmet chin bar slamming into collarbone. Plus the Leatt won't shred after a crash.
I am selling my STX rr if you are interested and pm me
This is what I have (and my friends too). I will NEVER get on the track without it again. Riders Discount has it cheaper than RevZilla....

Hey there - so I have a hitair airvest. Tested @ 120mph at Sonoma Raceway in California. I got sideswiped and locked my front brake making me cartwheel over the bike. My head never once touched the ground and the only injury I sustained was a bad ankle sprain. Review and video available here: Hit-Air Airbag Race Vest - Review - BARF - Bay Area Riders Forum
