Blame it on the fact that they're lighter... they bounce easier, accelerate & stop quicker and corner faster. Like little horse jockeys
On the plus side, now you've got some friendly competition! I can't think of more awesome people for you to practice with and race against than your own kids!
Keep setting that good example, dad![]()

I'm training my wee one for track and I just pace right behind him to push him faster and make him look ahead. His happiness when he "beats" me is palpable. I can't wait till he actually does. You're doing great dad shit that they will be with them forever, good job man.

Round 3 at Hemonds tomorrow in Maine! Freshly rebuilt suspension installed at 10 last night! Weather looks like it will hold... LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Operation beat the children.... ENGAGE!
![]()
Everyone in the top 10!
I got 10/15, Daughter 7/9, son 3/5!!
Kids rode the beat I have ever seen, track was hard and fast. Super proud of both kids, they we flying and most of all they looked comfortable and confident out there, makes me worry less.
No lap times, they hand scored, so we don't know who was fastest....
I rode well, felt fast for me, actually cleared some jumps. Still in my head a lot and feel like puking at the line, but once I get going it's fine my bike is a monster out of the hole, if I was a better rider....
On of my worst fears is getting landed on, over the last jump before the last turn to the finish line jump on what would have been my white flag, first place dropped out of the goddamned sky 6' to my left, never heard him, scared the shit out of me, so he lapped me and I got the checkered. Fuck...
The meat wagon was busy today, the had to call in 2 or 3 more ambulances. Saw MANY people get wrecked, shot was crazy.
Overall, great showing for all 3 of us.
Overcast, 60s, sprinkling off and on, not terrible race weather. After my second moto and we started packing up, it started raining pretty hard, so we lucked out on weather.

Really getting into the swing of things now, HOT but a great weekend.
I finished 11/13 then had a MONSTER moto 2, shaving like 15 seconds off per lap and getting 8/13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It felt good, felt like I was bombing, even got a great start. Moto 1 I experienced the classic inside outside inside swapping positions for the last 2 laps, a real battle! I was ahead down the last straight, he passed me then took the outside line on the last corner into the finish line jump so I went inside, and he just beat me (1 second). Lots of high 5s after that, so much fun. My first start sucked, there were 2 gate drop and my bike stalled just before the second gate drop. Final 9/13.
Tyler was on an absolute tear, he kinda scared me he was sending the jumps so big. He also had a bad start first moto, and really battle with the second place rider. (1st place, Zink, is basically untouchable) He got 3/5 first moto. Second moto he go an excellent start, came into the first corner just behind Zink, then flew the rest of the race. Got a 2/5 moto 2 for second overall!!!
Trinity had a bad start, caught her tire on the gate, but then ran pretty well, got 10/11, her class is pretty tough, some fast girls in there, the top girls run 85s with the boys. Second moto the bike died and she had to pull off, which really sucks, as a moto dad I feel terrible, but she is okay. I talked to a friend and I am almost positive the power valve is gummed up, Ill look into it. That or carb issues. Starts and runs fine, but then it will bog out and die sometimes. Shares her when it happens on a jump face which I can understand.
On to lap times....
This is fastest single lap....
Me: 2:54.195 17 seconds faster that last time at mx207!!!!
Trinity: 2:59.289 8 seconds faster
Tyler....... 2:46.528! 15 seconds faster
So I beat one the daughter but the boy beat me by almost 10 seconds....
Time for some cleaning and bike maintenance before round 5 next weekend, hopefully get her bike running better.

Glad you guys are getting dialed in! Just remember, if you try too hard and beat the boy he may remember that when it's time to pick your nursing home.

so awesome! nice work, team
tip for the daughter (she'll need a bigger bike soon, if not now), coach her to sit closer to the gas cap. like way up at the cap. she'll be more balanced on the bike rather than hanging off and lightening the front. better control all around moving core forward.

Cleaned her air filter (well, all of ours, I don't want to talk about mine), cleaned her power valve (most complicated power valve I've ever seen), cleaned her spark plug. Took it for a rip, felt good to me, hopefully it runs well this Saturday at Wheeler Springs.

Round 5 tomorrow, Wheeler Springs, Bowdoin, ME. Weather looks like 71 degrees, 20% chance of rain. New track for us, looks pretty small. Third weekend in a row racing!
Weather started out pretty nice, Tyler had first moto, rode had, was clearing a bunch of tabletops, held the lead and won moto 1!
Trinity had a battle with another bike for 3 laps, then made a move and passed her! Then her bike stalled. I am taking it to a shop tonight to have it looked at, I am sick of it not running right and I suck at carbs.
Second moto Ty was in the lead again, heading for his first win, until he lost his place on the track and sent a big single like it was a table. Scared the shit out of us and most everyone watching, went full booter to flat, exploded, and ragdolled into the face of the next jump. We ran across the track to him and he was clearly hurt pretty bad. We sat with him while they finished the race then sent the ambulance over. He thought his ankle was broken, EMTs checked him over and the ankle seemed okay. I carried him off the track to an ATV and they took him to the ambulance for a wrap then back to the camper. My wife took him to the hospital yesterday, buckle fracture of the tibia and fibula, so basically broke his right leg, cast for 8 weeks on the first day of summer. 1st then a DNF gave him a 3rd overall.
Trinity's second moto went pretty well, she stayed ahead of the other girl and finished 8/9. She did overshoot a single as well, but handled it okay.
For my moto, I was really worried about Tyler, and didn't feel like racing and didn't want to get hurt. First moto I rode poorly, slowly. Unfamiliar with the track, and kind of a tough track. I ended up losing my place on the track and overshot a big single to flat. Couldn't believe I did it, and it fucking hurt like hell. I finished 10/11.
Second moto I felt a little better, rode a little harder. I overshot the EXACT SAME SINGLE TY DID, to flat, though not nearly as bad. So stupid, so frustrated with that track. Then was in 10th again but I was gaining on 9th. I decided to send a step up a little harder then power through the whoops and catch the guy... cased it, bounced over the backside while crossed up, landed at and angle and absolutely ate shit. I think I took a handlebar to the left quad. It hurts so bad and I cant really use that leg. Upper body is sore as hell too. The collarbone plates held though because I hit that left side hard. Leaving me in last place.
Tough fucking weekend at the track, boys.
Edit: and the times
My fastest: 1:58.2
Her fastest: 1:58.0
His fastest: 1:41.5
he was fucking cooking, would have been his first W, going to get his cast put on next Monday

Another doctors appointment today to get the hard cast. They are hoping 5 weeks in that, then a boot. 12 weeks no dirtbiking, he could possibly make the last 2 events and you can throw away one event. Also took another xray, its fully broken, and slightly displaced, not just a buckle fracture.
Picking up her bike tonight from the shop. The put a leaner jet in it and changed one clip on the needle.

DAM, that sucks, hope he heals up quick

Damn, rough weekend but glad you're all mostly ok. I have learned, as an EMT myself, don't listen if they say it's not broken. Xray is the only way to tell. Ski patrol EMT told my I probably didn't break my ankle, he was quite wrong.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
She didn't really say "it isn't broken", he really thought it was his ankle, and she said the ankle seemed fine, and it didn't hurt when she touched it, but she gave us the option of an ambulance ride and encouraged us to see a doctor.
Boy seeing your kid shoot off on one of those jumps where you knew immediately it wasn't landable was AWFUL. My wife just said, "oh no..." and I started running.
My guy: Well you're walking on it so it's probably not broken.
Xray tech: wow, I'm really surprised you're walking on that cause it's really fucking broken.
Oh man, I can't and don't want to imagine. I still have to pause myself when mine takes a digger and slowly approach. And these are quite minor.

Hah, I broke my tibia playing soccer, stayed in for another 10 mins before the coach realized I was not moving right and pulled me. Sat and watched the rest of the match, drove myself home, hopped up the flight of stairs into the house and noted I 'bruised my shin pretty good today.' My mom, an RN looked at my leg, looked at me and informed me that we we're going to the ER.
Came home in a cast and my first time on Tylenol with Codine for a four hour drive for family vacation. That. Drive. SUCKED. Every bump, wiggle, or other road imperfection set my leg off horrible, got into the room, took a dose and channel surfed my way to the Weather Channel when the codine kicked in and I apparently "watched" it for the rest of the night. This was early August, in NH. My dad had a ball telling tourists who asked if I "did that skiing" that I did in fact, just then, trying out for the Olympic ski jump team... And they all believed him.
I also had the infield care center crew at NHMS inform me that there was no way I broke my collar bone after asking me to pull/push a few different ways with my arm after my nasty T1 crash. Ended up packing up my stuff myself that weekend despite many offers to help 'cause I'm a stubborn idiot, drove myself home... later x-rays confirmed that oh boy did I not only break it, I exploded one end into a cloud of calcium. Secondary bonus to that crash was the amazing technicolor migrating bruise I got, at one point my whole chest and part of my left leg were purple and green, I could have been an extra on the Walking Dead and not have needed any makeup.
