Last race of the year boys. And the last race I'm skipping, just the kids this time again. Full season next year.
Anyone here going?
I was thinking of going.
I've been racing mx every weekend for like the last 2 months, so kind of need to do some shit this weekend. Coupled with all the rain we got last night and the 30° temps overnight... it was pretty easy to blow this one off.
I haven't done a Jday this year either.
Good luck to the kids.

RACE REPORT!
Wow, another tough one at The Wick.
Woke up in the morning to frost on the seats
Extreme section was one of the hardest I have seen. Son planned to avoid it, ended up in it first lap by accident. Daughter avoided it altogether. Most of it wasn't too bad, but the one raised log was a bit much for the smaller bikes.
Son had his best start ever, finished 12 of 17. This tied him with 10th place for 76 championship points, but they have him in 11th. If he hadn't taken the extreme by accident, which cost him 45 seconds, he could have beat the next rider 40 seconds ahead and got that top 10 for the year.

Daughter had an alright start her first moto

She has trouble making it up the jump faces on the moto section, I ran over there to help but she beat me there. Someone helped her up, but she stalled on the landing. When I got there, there was NO FLAGGER, and I watch my daughter almost get maimed. 2 super minis launched 50' and landed inches from her on the ground. I ran to wave more bikes off and she almost got hit again. I went to copy all the go pro footage today and it corrupted that specific file, so I dont have any first person, but she came SO close to getting fucked up so bad.
They live streamed the race. at 12:26 a little in the distance you can see the 2 super minis bombing off the downhill, those are the ones that almost hit her. Not their fault, the flagger above was sitting in a camping chair facing the other way and not watching this jump. At 12:48 you can see me waving more bikes off.

It made me so sick to my stomach, right in front of me I saw them drop out of the sky and land inches from her. I actually didnt want her to do her second moto, but she insisted.
She did better second moto and I'm so glad the season is done. She squeaked out an 8 out of 10, giving her 6th overall for the year.
I'm disappointed with Southwick, they really should have had a flagger there. I hate that shes out there with super minis, it is such an imbalance in speed, those guys are animals. I watched the pro race and almost none of the pros jumped as far as those kids that almost landed on her.
I'm disappointed in the Jday sweeps, One asked what was up, and I asked him to shadow her a bit because she was struggling and he just rode off. The long blonde hair sweep that I have watched for 5 years just run hot laps can eat a dick. I am not sure he has ever helped a kid, I have seen him roost kids, I have seen him dump the clutch and blow out a berm in the cornfield at Richardsons farm which then many people after would be riding that berm then just crash because the berm, just disappeared, he just goes out and does hot laps around the the track while the kids race and doesn't help at all, I've seen it for years.
For many reasons, this will most likely be our last Jday. We will have to figure out something new for next year and bail on our plans of attempting a full jday season. We are considering trying the Maine Motocross series? I don't know, we will figure it out next year.
Just glad everyone survived the season in one piece.
Saw this guy like 15 feet from me and got a great shot.

gotta watch the vids but hats off to the kids gettin' out there and mixing it up! ... i've prob said before but JDay is the land of sandbaggers from my perspective. you're too far north but NETRA has always been MUCH more family-friendly racing like i grew up with in CT/FL/NY. i would put the criticism directly on JDay clientele rather than Southwick.
scratch that, watched the vids. what a fucking start for your son! PURRFECT
amazing they live streamed the event, gotta watch that later, love that place so much.
