Sweet lookin' mud lover.........very nice
what do people think of this as a first woods bike? Too much? Im like 6'2 and 215 and an average rider with no off-road exp.

It's a good bike, but ultimately i'd encourage you to lean toward something with a headlight.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill
Manny, even though I'm the seller, this bike is great in the woods, that's where i prefer to ride (used to race Hare Scrambles back in the day). I'm 5'11" ~185lb with gear and it has PLENTY of power for me. with +2 teeth out back and the heavy flywheel weight you can lug it through tight single-track with ease. the thing seems to be happy anywhere. very strong motor. as for a beginner dirty toy, i wouldnt be able to answer... but i can say its a pretty user-friendly bike. smooth if you keep the revs in check, explosive if you want to ride in the sweet spot. i'm no pro, just like to ride in the state forests.
I do agree with hessogood that if you think you'll be in the woods after sunlight, a headlight is nice. i never had one on any of my woods bikes though. guess it depends.
Oreo, thanks, I'll be a little sad to see it go but I'm getting a new Husky TC250. can't keep the CR![]()

I plan towide woods. Ive got no idea what type of stuff as Ive never done it, so who knows. I'm pretty sure it wont be anything really tough for a while if ever. I'm a bit of a panzie when it comes down to it.
Headlight for woods stuff, like when it gets dark and your in the woods or for some type of registration thing?

if you're just trail riding... its setup well and a fun bike, for a 2-stroke. that may be the question to ask yourself. i've always ridden 2-strokes so i'm biased but i love 'em for the reasons ChR1s mentions.
headlight for dark... i have it yellow-plated in MA. no issues. $40/2yrs. rangers have always been super cool.

I can attest to the fact that this is a sweet deal. I was suprised to see how well it worked in the rocky slippery stuff we encounter around here. If I didn't score a free KDX, I'd be all over it.
Manny, if you're riding in MA/NH there really isn't much "easy" terrain, so count on some challenging days ahead.
that bike looks nice, too bad my garage is full
no regrets!!! life is just too short

Manny, I was gonna get a 125 but have zero regrets going w/ a 250. The 250 has plenty of low-end grunt compared to the 125 to pull you through the tuff stuff. No slipping the clutch for me. I think you'll be 100% fine learning dirt on this bike if a woods/motocross bike is what you're lookin for.
Just keep your wrist low when you grab the throttle & ya shouldn't have anything to worry about.

man i would be tempted to grab this myself if i was working slight more than i am now. (which would be slightly working)... i want something to ride track... or more or less play on track. the ktm is not too swift in the air. i too can attest to this bike being very capable in the woods. as for a beginner there will be nothing easy for you to ride for awhile... but you will find out how in shape you are after the first days ride.![]()
btw... Just wanna mention, obviously, i'm no expert on dirtbikes, just another total newb that ended up w/ a 250 MX bike, i know where you're comin from, Manny.
