I've been looking for a good MX stand for a while now. I had this crappy one that I bought on ebay a few years ago that worked well, but the bike was never stable and it was a bitch to lift it.
I tried a stand that the local dealer had in stock and they said everyone that has bought one, loved them. I hated it! The only good thing was it had a shock on it so when you go to lower the bike, it doesn't slam down. It was also a pain to lift the bike and with the YZ, it wouldn't even lift both wheels off the ground.
I returned it last weekend and ordered another one. I ordered a fully adjustable MSR-HP stand. For anyone that has ever used these style stands, this thing is the cats ass. Very stable, very heavy duty, and most importantly, it's VERY easy to lift the bike.
The lift height is adjustable so it can be used on the quad, the motard and the MX bike. Not sure if their design was for use with a quad, but it picked my 400lb quad off the ground with ease. Best $80 I ever spent
That extra little lever to the right allows you to keep one foot on the lowering lever, while the other releases it. It prevents the bike from slamming down.
While I was at it, decided to do a little work to the bikes. Cleaned all the grime off the Ape chain to get set up for my normal WD-40 chain lube. I also cut the pin on the kickstand return...wish i did this the first day I had the bike home.
Notice the bike is off the ground and the kickstand is still down. The return spring does rub the frame a bit but I can deal with it.
And it was the YZ's turn. I needed to do a wheel swap back to the Motard stuff. Ice riding is done for me this season, plus I pulled the studs out. The trails are a mess with mud and ice so I figured i'd start prepping it for VIR in MarchI've also gotta give it an oil change and clean the air filter. Might do that stuff tonight between beers

I bought it from my local dealer. I'm not exactly sure where they got it but I can call and ask on Tuesday, they are closed tomorrow. I honestly just went by the pictures while looking at the books they had

I use a poland springs 5 gallon water jug holder that I came across at one of my accounts. I wired a 2 gang outlet into the middle of it for my tire warmers. 1 cord to the middle done deal.

adjustable height to? Mine became a pain to use with the Motard wheels on it, and i am sure that the bike being lowered doesnt help. I think track gear is coming first![]()
I put a piece of 1/4 inch plywood on the top. It's high enough to get both wheels of the ground to put on warmers, pull both wheels. Cheap and works good!

Looks like a similar one. They're on sale at Cycle Gear. I'm thinking of picking one up.

Your idea is the best way for use at the track, no question. I still have mine around somewhere and it worked well. I had to put plywood on the top of mine to keep the bike stable when I put the tire warmers on.
The problem with the 08 YZ, it doesn't have the "love handles" like my older 450 had. Why they changed that style, I don't know.
Yes, the height is adjustable...though you have to remove 2 bolts to make that type of change.
The one you have is a nice one, and that's the style I was looking for when I found this one. The easiest way to deal yours now with the motard wheels on is to place the stand in front of the engine case (between the front tire and the engine), hold the bike up by the handle bars with one hand and pick up on the front wheel with the other and pull the bike forward on the stand. Sounds complicated but it's easy
It's close!
The top isn't big enough IMO, which is the key to keeping the bike stable. Aluminum is soft and bends easy when you screw up and the bike slams down on the stand as you let it down![]()

hmm, that looks nice. i just picked up a FMF stand for around $70 but it only has three feet, i like how this MSR one has four. still havent put mine together yet but hoping it works OK for the Husky and Ape.
(your machines are freekin' clean)

Tucker Rocky carries that line. I found something very similar in my book it's about $90.00

How do you get them THAT clean! My bikes were not that clean when new!.
I try to keep up with the hose, degreaser, etc. But yours are beyond that.
Either you need a therapest,or you have some new product I need to know about.
Nice job,

Do you go to Roadside marine? I love those guys.
It pays to play.
Ride fast,
You will get farther before it is over!
You make me wonder sometimes Keith
My cleaning tools are simple and work well. A garden hose, bottle of simple green and a 4" quality soft paint brush for the wash. An electric leaf blower to dry them. And WD-40 and ArmorAll to make them look new again.
Trust me, a closer look at the Raptor and KTM will show that each have been used as intended and they have the scares to proove it. If you clean the dirt and muck out of the scares, you don't notice them![]()
