Yeah, short notice but I was in the mood today and my neighbor and i cut about 2,000' of trail. As of now it dead ends and I want to make it a loop so it can be ridden without turning around. Anyone want to come help cut some trails tomorrow (saturday 1/3/09) ? There's about 4" of snow on the ground now, any riding will be at your own riskI've got a chainsaw and some hand clippers. End of the day I'll feed you and I have a couple cases of beer (bud and coors light) left over from New Years Eve that I'd hate to have sitting around. Thinking about 1pm or so start time. Anyone??

Glad we could assist
I love that stuff.
Another 1,000' cut today, still doesn't go anywhere though. I'm kinda zig zagging the trails and leaving about 10-20' between the trails to get the most out of the land. It's perfect with the snow on the ground so I can see where I've been, plus you can walk ahead to mark the trail.

If your close to me and a Jeep can fit in there I'd love to help ya.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Damm Sorry I missed it, I will however be glad to help you test ride some of the new trail, I got my winter studs last night

If your jeep is 4' wide, then it will fitI ride a bike and a quad so these trails I'm cutting for both. There's a rock garden section that will be all bike single track once I get the time, that may have to wait until next winter.
I got no studs for trail riding yet. What kind did you get?

R7,
Glad you are enjoying your land. I only have 11 acres and I crammed a 2 mile long grass/MX track that connects to 1 mile of single track.
I think I have trail on every inch of my land save for a lawn, which my wife calls the buffer zone.
I am dying to get more land and almost enjoy the cutting as much as riding, almost.
I do love when I burn in the new single track. It looks so nice to look out my window, any window as the single track surrounds my house and see the trail.
I have a quad w/ chains and a saw. How far from Burlington, VT are you.
Enjoy,
OT
It pays to play.
Ride fast,
You will get farther before it is over!
Thanks OT
I've got just shy of 13.5 acres and 13 of them are all woods. I'm hoping to get 8 or so miles of trails, which shouldn't be a problem how I'm laying them out. My neighbor/best friend and his wife have 12 acres, same deal with 11.5 of them being all woods. We are thinking woods mx on his side (less rocks and better natural elevation change) and keeping the trails on my side.
I'd say I'm 4-4 1/2 hours south of Burlington, Vt

I'll try and snap some pictures today, I'm heading out now for a couple hours![]()

I took a tour on the Raptor and took a few pictures. I still have some chainsaw work to do to the trail I cut yesterday and this morning, so those sections were not passable yet
That's a big bolder the trail goes up and over, slipery now but should be fun once the snow melts.
Between the rocks
Small rock step up, skid plates needed
There's more grade than the pictures show, the top is all ledge
A section to give you an idea how close I'm making the trails, I'm on one trail, you can see the other
I may have shown this before, this rock is a perfect launch for a jump, I just need to cut a couple trees
Perfect fit? it's almost like it was made for it?
That's it for now. Looks like the snow may melt tomorrow so the work may slow down a bit. I'll have to go back to the ribbon first, then cut method vs finding a line by walking, then cutting the trail following footsteps

mark you may have inspired me to get a quad

How long of a loop do you anticipate?
Nice job.

Hey, you should buy a quad..or a bikeAs much as I love my quad, the bike is easier to ride and a bit more fun on those trails.
On paper, I can get 8 1/2 miles if I can get all trails within 15' of each other. I'm hoping for a 7-8 mile loop, not including my neighbors land. Just the property line trail is 3/4 of a mile.
Thanks

Leah and I went out with snowshoes yesterday out back the trail to the cemetary is not ridable as there were atleast 10 - 12 trees down just on that trail alone. I can only imagine what the rest of our 30 mile loop looks like , we are definately going to need to pack a couple of saws when we ride this spring, if for nothing else than to cut the branches off to be able to cross the log that is left .

Yup, cut the branches off so the log gets close to the ground and just hop over it. Think Confidence, it's the glimmer of hope that you just might make it
You rode my Rappy? But yeah, I saw some strange trail markings in the snow. How far in did you go?
