    Winter MX in MA???

Why yes! I finished up my 250f the other day, and it is so nice out, I thought I'd shake it down and just check on the track. Bike started first kick and it felt great. I was a bit rusty. I did some cornering and braking drills, then headed for the track. The bridge took another big hit this winter, but I got across. The open terrain was dry and thawed, anything in the shade was wet and muddy with frozen ground underneath.

I made it to the track without much trouble and it was surprisingly ride-able! It was a strange mix of dry sand, frozen sand, mud and ice. I was able to run some pretty clean lines and even attack pretty hard in spots. No problem clearing the two twenty footers. Some of the whoops where actually faster because they were frozen, making them firmer than normal.

I did two long sessions and was shakin the cobwebs out pretty good. I thought, one more session and home. 2 laps in the bike just dies like it has run out of gas... Fuck. The motor has compression, but won't fire. I'm alone, down in the sandy bowl with no way to get the bike out...

I start walking home and a nice farm lady offers me a ride. I grab my truck and head head back, not sure what I'm doing really, but there are some trucks there when I arrive. Sweet! A guy on a quad tows me up the steep hill and back to the truck.

Now to figure out what went wrong. I did pour a gallon of old gas in it from a plastic can that had been sitting on the dirt floor of my carport since nov. I'm hoping it was water, but not sure why it took an hour to stop the bike... Could be something I forgot to torque properly.

That's my novel, hope you liked it...

If it was a yamaha, I'd say it was a stator... twice I've had a perfectly healthy yamaha mx bike crap out, only to be the stator.

    Re: Winter MX in MA???

I'm glad to be out here where eastern massholes ignore us like we don't exist! Track was better yet again today. 2 kids on play bikes rode through. Otherwise all to myself.

I have to talk myself down from riding too hard with no one around. Especially today, as I have a surf trip coming up in a week, and I CAN'T get hurt before then. Washed the bike and gear today and put it away until after P.R. It was a great break from my winter workout routine to be able to ride 3 times in a week.

btw, chipper, that masshole comment wasn't directed at you. You can come out and ride anytime. It's just kinda a small spot for a long drive.
