1.) wtf is this?
the title says "date first sold" is 1991, and the "year model" is 1989
google image search brought me to the Yamaha Breeze 125...sound right?
2.) how do I get it started?
looks like it's an electric start only? can't even seem to find the battery on this thing to jump start it
3.) what was the goal of this quad? slow rock crawling? kids mx? 1 speed in each direction?
4.) what's it worth if I can get it to run? $500?

It's a starter quad for youngsters.
The older I get the Faster I wuz
I just bought:
1.) 2007 Honda XR650L
2.) 2002 Honda XR250R
3.) 2003 Suzuki RM85
4.) 2002 Yamaha YZ426F
5.) the quad
6.) a trailer to carry them all
-------------------------------
in a "family package" deal
none of them run...so I'm going through 'em one at a time, using as spares to let friends borrow if they want to come for a ride (just so they can "try out" dirt), coax the seller's wife to let him come ride with me a few times, then re-sell
If I'm patient, can wait a while, I can likely sell the XR650 (and maybe the trailer), to cover the acquisition cost of everything...rest is profit
I sort of want to try this thing out...maybe take it to the wheelie/stunt spot...or maybe take a couple kids out for a moto day on the dry lake bed, then sell it
how do I get it running?!?

Not sure about the Yamaha's, but my first quad was a 87 Honda 125 and it was recoil start, pull starter like a lawnmower. Look for a black T handle on the side of the engine and pull on it.
It's unikely you will have fun on it, little suspension, if any, no power, it's exactly what Rada said, a starter quad for kids
Yamaha
no T handle, it's an electric start...
it turns over but wouldn't fire...got a new plug and she's got the fat blue spark but no gas...fuel petcock filter (like the XR) crumbling in my hand as I took it out, but luckily the "on" switch worked and I got gas flowing out of the tank. Still wouldn't fire, so I got into the carb and saw the mess. Pilot jet, even after 3 rounds of ultrasonic cleaning looks like it's fused shut...the bowl had a layer of debris that couldn't be removed without scraping w' a metal object. The worst part is where the fuel enters the carb and the float pin - it's also fused stuck in there! I ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner, tried scraping away the debris w' a small wire, and it just would not open up
I filled the bowl before putting it back on the motor - and she fired momentarily!
new battery is on the way since the old one won't hold a charge, and it's definitely a fuel delivery issue keeping it from running...but how do I fix a frozen float pin?
aftermarket carb is ~$90 on fleabay - worth it?
edit - looks like the whole float pin assembly is replaceable from the fiche - going to order rebuild kit

Get more aggressive with your cleaner, what have you got to loose? Soak the carb in PineSol.
Needle valve assemblies on those small carbs are usually the culprit. I've replaced a couple sets on the midgets small ATV's. Luckily, they're a dime-a-dozen. I've done 'em on my boy's little Alpha Sport 50 & the Yamaha Y-zinger we had for a short time...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Yup...needle valve assembly is what it's called...wiggled it out, put in a new one, and still wouldn't fire!
Spark was strong and blue...but came out dry everytime. Took out pilot jet and made sure I had a good stream of carb cleaner going through, put in a new pilot and just cranking and cranking
Ultrasonic cleaned it 2 more times with more simple green concentrate...
After about an hour of bursting attempts, she fired! Battery was dead (new one came without acid?) so I rode it with the alternator power down the street...what a rush!!!
Tried a wheelie on the way back and it stalled upon landing haha...and with the auto clutch I couldn't roll start it...pushed it home and gonna give it a rest for now. Stupid work in 7 hours anyways

edit: nvm - the quad won't allow you start it in gear - gotta be in neutral -
got some battery acid from autozone, going to top it off, charge it up, adjust the idle speed, THEN IT'S WHEELIE TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMME
Already talked to my stunter friends and we are taking it to a spot this week, lol

bummer...now it won't even start...key-> on and no lights..like a completely dead battery. Connections to battery are good...odd!
transmission is in neutral - it's almost like I popped a main fuse after I put down the wheelie

Neutral sensor? I had a Yam200 from that era. Complete dog, but very simplistic. I can't imagine there is much to that thing to go wrong. Let me know if you want to sell it.
I am going to sell soon for (~$400?? I dunno), but I live in CA and shipping kills the deal
main fuse had popped...luckily they stow a spare fuse on the fuse holder and I was able to swap it out
it was still a hard starter, but I sprayed carb cleaner in it until it fired, then held the throttle until the needle valve assembly starting letting gas into the bowl again...when I turned it off the float was stuck and gas started to leak out of the overflow...the new needle valve assembly isn't moving up and down properly
but it still starts easy and runs great...so gonna just turn the petcock on and off this weekend in the desert
still not used to quads...was watching R7's video on facebook and I can't nearly haul like that

super bouncy...okay fun @ low speeds, but after that you get tossed all over the place
regardless, took a couple girls riding over the weekend, and this city girl grew up on a farm - those farm girls can do it better!

I'd consider myself lucky if I got $200 for it...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
LOL
ya it's ugly...
$500 in socal isn't hard...there's a lot of mexican families that ride dirt together...I already got interest from a spanish guy that bought the 426
but aren't all working kids dirtbikes/quads worth $400?
and adult working dirt bikes 1995 + worth $1,000?
