...and honestly, I'm getting nervous about it. I don't really know why but the anxiety is there. I don't want to screw up. So I could use a pep talk from some of you seasoned racers. What can I expect from a racing school?
#1) What the hell is the MAAACRRR _RRS639639639?
#2) They will mostly teach you about the flags ect. Safe pit -out ect. Maybe get you started on technique ect.
#3) usally some riding like a trackday with no passing rules ect. Some slow guys some fast fast guys alot of CRAZY folks who think its a race Its not.
You want to be somewhere in the middle.
#4) I have seen you ride at monticello You will be Alright you know what you are doing. Just HAVE FUN and come race with us

+1 to what the squirly man said.
If its a licensing school its not about performance riding or making sure you're fast enough to considered a licensed racer or anything like that. Basically they're just going to teach you how it all goes down, what the flags mean, what the start/grid procedures are, what to do if your engine grenades itself in a race, etc. If you have track experience which you obviously do, it'll be a piece of cake. Have fun with it!
FWIW you'll still learn a lot I'm sure.
Wellll....just got back from the school last night (couldn't stick around this weekend for an actual race). We did the mock race and....I took 1st place! Although there was no trophy or prizes, just bragging rights, it still felt pretty good. It has me all psyched about doing an upcoming CCS event (or maybe an LRRS event with you guys and gals). The lot of you would probably mop the floors with me so I'm gunna have to wait until I get faster before I make my appearance @ Loudon. Just thought I'd let you all know how it went.
And you guys were exactly right about what they discussed. It was 5 hours worth of flag discussion, along with grid procedures and the "minutes" boards. Then came tracktime![]()
