Asking again, anyone pick up a Blue and White Vanson custom suit? Bib style with the name Sweeny and Central Auto Body on the back....
Help!!
Ok fellas, I called in to work today... I am spent.
After my trailer leaf spring mount busting on the way down (axle was resting on the frame), Having to weld a new plate on the frame to weld the leaf spring mount to... picking up the 748 from Rich (Thanks), unloading 4 bikes at 10:30 pm when I finally arrived at the track monday night to find Jim in Garage 2 taking up enough room for 3 bikes with all his crapand then setting up my air matress I was spent.
Up at 6am and I swear it was already 80 degree's I drank 4 Gatorades and a case of water through out the day and I STILL got heat cramps when I cornerworked lunch. (running 2 out of 3 groups will do that to you).
My bikes were whored out most of the day but I got to ride them too. Sorry the Hawk didn't work out Chip. Glad you liked the motard. Josh, I think you need to get a Hawk, you looked good on mine! Glad you took the 748 out too, I need to work on the seating position or something on that bike but I am glad it ran so strong.
Our Advanced group seemed slower than it usually is (except for Freddie) The intermediates were pretty quick yesterday and it was mentioned over the radio that they looked faster than the Advanced.A few of you in intermediate could have bumped to Advanced easily but the track was pretty open so there was really no need.
Some of the Beginners/Novice could have bumped to intermediate as well. As I told a couple people, If you feel you are passing alot or getting held up by many different people (not just the one or two "slow" guys) in the corners and the closing speed are off at the end of the straights ask someone if you can bump. Just remember Intermediate is usually the biggest group.
I was thankful that we didn't have more incidents because of the heat. Great job everyone and thanks for doing a LAPS day. I hope I helped a few people.
At LAPS we know we are different than other days and we hope you keep coming back so we can expand our offerings in the future.
Oh andMotards do not suck anymore. My motard was FUN!

BIG thank you to the entire LAPS crew. The day was HOT for sure but the day was an absolute blast compared to sitting in a cube all day.
Low Flag day, hot sticky track, Cool guys to run with. Yea, that is what it's about for me.
Thanks to Ryan for taking the time to show me around the track and helping me in some spots I needed to connect the dots with. Allowed me to pick up some much needed speed in 1-2 & 6, I hope to get them dialed in better for the next race weekend.
I also dropped a knee for the first time in 9 chasing Ryan around the track, FUCK, for a second I thought I was crashing.
I am sooooo signing up for the next one in Aug.
Thanks again LAPS Crew!
Day was great, I was another one that didnt get to say hi apart from at registration. If I had know you were doing free loaner bikes, I could have left mine at home!
I agree with your comments regarding the pace, I was confused as I was running pretty good in the intermediate group and felt I could have managed well in the fast group but mentally assumed they would be much quicker so given the heat etc I decided to stay within my comfort zone! (I think a couple of other guys had the same thoughts)
Maybe next time??!!

Yea, sorry Doc, I did have the intentions to, but you seemed a bit popular yesterday. Every time I went over you were busy with someone, then you were corner working. No biggie, there is always Aug.
Once it was getting later in the day I just asked Ryan if he could just give me some pointers to work with. Pick a couple of spots for me to work on while tooling around.
I've never really had any "Coaching" but I feel I am starting to require some to go faster/smoother as I don't know what the hell I am doing out there.
I just do what I "Think" I should & go where I "think" is the fastest line, which really isn't what I "should" be doing and obviously my "Fast" line is not "The Fast Line". to many spots I could carry a bit more speed and less brake.
I still appreciate the offers & great hospitality of the LAPS crew. Well Done in my book!
Yeah, I know. Every time I did, you were working with someone and I hate interrupting an instructor's train of thought, even if was you.
The "Huh" comment was about the Doug Polen comment.
I have to admit that some track days, I get so focused with stuff that I completely forget to ask if I'm doing things right or wrong.
My 1 tip. Find markers. Watch you tube videos and look for stuff on the track that isn't going to move so you can use it as a reference. Changes is pavement color, crack, bumps, even cones (although cones can move). It really helps to have references.
See you in August.

I forget but thanks anyway. I was going a little wide in a few turns. next time if its not a bajillion degrees out I'll actually try to go fast.
if I knew that was gonna happen I woulda put my head down and opened up the throttle. I rarely hit the throttle stop yesterday. even on the straight I didn't hit it too many times.
you might be a ton faster than me but you're still fat
here's a decent little video which includes Freddy passing me in 4. usually he comes around me on the outside there but decided inside this time. If stupid youtube would stop disabling the audio (just bike sounds) then you would be able to hear me get off the gas as he's still at full hum down the hill. looks to be around a 1:30 lap time, terrible. I thought I was going much faster than that. did 1:25s a month ago with 3 track days elsewhere in between that time. YouTube- LapsNHMS.mov
