That will buff right out... I'm glad he didn't take anyone else out. I can't believe he only walked away with a wrist injury. That could have ended much worse for him and others. I wonder if there was something other than panic that made him grab so much brake...???
OUCCHH! i guess he yanked that lever just a little...

What kind of a malfunction would cause that?
It's like a much faster version of a bicycle crash I had in college when my foot slipped off the pedal and wedged between the wheel and fork. Front wheel stops, everything goes airborne.
Weird
maybe he put some new brake hardware on there (rotors, pads, M/C, lines) and was trying to brake deep for the first time.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

He did use all that power in the front brake.![]()
I saw that in another forum. That was insane.
Excuse my stupidity, but I'm not understanding this.
If, he did grab the brake and the master failed, wouldn't the result be less braking force?
I've seen my share of crashes, but this is weird.

I'll put $$ on it that he panicked.
I know that feeling, going all out on a striaght away and then hitting the brakes last second before the corner....
what if he didnt get a good grip and had to move his fnigers ? those seconds going that fast and delaying breaking would cause and emergency break
yup, my $ on panicking.
yeah I bet he panicked. or he saw a squirrel.
didn't like the looks of some people in the stand and reached down and installed the disk lock. Seen it happen a million times...
*speechless*

Damn! I can't believe the front tire didn't just skid. That's crazy.

That bike went over awfully quickly. I have done that in T9 to avoid taking out another rider, but it didn't go over anywhere near that quickly. That guy had no control of his brakes at all, whether it was panic or malfunction.
Steve M, the malfunction we see in racing is overheating fluid when the pinhole pressure relief in the MC reservoir is blocked. The fluid expands and the brake locks.
Holy shit that was an impressive superman. guy is luck he's alive.

That had to be some kind of malfunction. Only time I've seen anything like that happen is going into T1 (or other close battles) and a brake lever gets hit by someone else during a pass.
Crazy.

I was wondering if it was something like the disc separating from the rim or something like a bearing seizure... but, if you frame-by-frame the video there's no smoke off the front, everything seems in-tact, and he wasn't in a tank-slapper or out of control... (other than flying through the air ass-over-teakettle).
My guess, weight transfer/panic.
What a wild wreck.
