I have seen a few pictures of what looks like some sort
of tape or contact paper on both sides of some trackday bike's gas tanks.
If this will make my old bike go faster where do I get some?
Is this used to help the rider hold the bike or does it work in conjunction
with race gear?
Thanks

You are seeing stomp grip. Won't make you old bike faster, but it does help with gripping the tank with your legs. I love it, others hate it.

I've used it on a few streetbikes as well as the racebikes, especially if I'm doing a bit of two-up riding. It helps me hold onto the tank better with my legs with the weight of a passenger behind me.
I started using Stomp Grip this season and absolutly love it. Being able to grip the tank really cut down on fatigue.

Stomp Grip it is! Thanks.
i have mixed feeling about it. when i rode Mikes GSXR i felt that it made it harder to get off the bike but it did help me grip the tank when i was braking.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

I use it on the street and the track. It allows you to hold the bike with your legs and lets your arms be a loose as possible. Loose on the bars means more feedback gets to your hands and less bad imput to the bars. Good product.
One more thing that I remembered. Long before Stomp Grip was available, I used to cut out the stuff that you put in the tub to keep from slipping in the shower. It worked great and was also water proof but it ate your leathers. Did work good but Stomp Grip is the way to go now.
