set of dual temp tire warmers

I was looking to buy a set of dual temp tire warmers. The ones I was thinking of get are Suzuka, Moto D and Woodcraft. I would like some opinions on witch ones would be the best to buy?

I can't speak for the other brands but I've owned 3 sets of Woodcrafts over the years and have not had a failure. Two sets were 3 temp on a toggle switch and my current set is the digital temp.

Also might want to consider Chicken Hawks

Woodcraft pluses - The disconnect when you take them off mean you never burn them up when you're in a hurry. They're very easy on generators. One size fits almost all. Lighter shell material construction means they're a bit more flexible and easier to use when clearances are tight.

Woodcraft minuses - They're very easy on generators, but their 'hot' isn't as fast or as hot as some others like Chicken Hawks. The fleece side curtains love to create endless thread pulls. One size may 'fit' all but doesn't mean it's a good fit, 180, 200, the rear is bang on, smaller more overlap, and the velcro may not hit it's matching surface on the other side.

ChickenHawks - You get quick disconnects, but it's just the main cord, so you have to remember to undo it when pulling your warmers or you'll have a hot mess on your hands. Shell material is a bit heavier than Woodcrafts, not as flexible but more rugged. (I've worn holes in the outside of my Woodcrafts where the CH likely would have held up.) One size fits one size, my 160 set will not work on 180/200 tires, full stop, get a set to match what you're using. CH's 'high' is noticeably hotter than Woodcrafts, they also put more load on my generator when in use. (I also think CH's status LED is MUCH easier to see than Woodcraft's, but I think Woodcraft has updated since mine were made.) CH don't have the side curtains, so more of your rim is exposed to the air when warming, CH's answer is separate full wheel covers for those cold days. More time to put on / take off, but also more effective than the curtains when in use. You could also use those covers with Woodcrafts so, not a deal breaker?

My ideal? A set of CH that were updated to have even more strain relief in the main cord quick connect, PLUS a Woodcraft style safety interlock that only allows warmer operation when actually wrapped on a wheel that has to be undone to unwrap the wheel. No fleece side curtains, I hate the dang stringers pulling off them all the time. Said magic combo doesn't exist on the market that I'm aware of.

Also, I need to see if I can get my Woodcraft's repaired or if I should replace.

I have used the SV Racing Parts dual temp warmers for awhile. Pretty cheap to purchase compared to the others mentioned, but probably not as high quality. I have no complaints though.

I was always happy with my Woodcraft, never any major issues. The curtains on the back tire are hard to get onto a motard size swing arm. I do think the curtain is a good idea for keeping in heat on the colder days, though.

I like that the Woodcraft don't get as hot as Chickenhawk. I've owned several pairs of CH and they all had orange marks on the inside from getting too hot and eventually burn out.

I like the disconnect on the Woodcraft, too. I personally like Eric and would recommend supporting not only a local company, but a long time forum member who races at loudon and is based in Massachusetts. Also makes it easy if you have an issue. You can bring them to the track to give to Eric.

Re: set of dual temp tire warmers

    what are your temperature requirements?
there are some tires that want to be heated above 180 F.
    this will limit your options.

I would never use anything from Moto D.
Woodcraft is most likely your best bet.
CapIt is a another option if you need higher heat, and are ok with the price tag.

Re: set of dual temp tire warmers

2 years ago I splurged on the Chicken Hawk Professional Digital to replace an old basic dual temp set. Never thought I'd pay so much for warmers but figured they'd either last a really long time or I could sell them for close to what I paid. After 2 years these CH Professionals seem extremely robust and still look new inside and out. The display has been helpful to see temp/time, especially if you forget to refuel your geny or the breaker gets tripped on the outlet. I'm pretty frugal typically but I got what I paid for and I'm happy about it.
