Even with my no possibility of vehicle insurance, as with my little DH mountain bike episode last year the insurance monkeys still called a few times hoping they could stick somebody else with the bill... Asking about where I was riding (Highland MTB park), how well the trail was maintained, could anything have been done differently, etc... I was friendly, but direct and all calls ended easily. Was the trail maintained? Yes. Were there signs indicating the terrain? Yes. Can you describe the trail surface? Well maintained. Anything else?
So do your guys bike insurance not cover trackdays? I specifically asked my insurance agent if riding a trackday would be covered and he said yes, as long as I was not being negligent or reckless. I sent him the link to TTD's website and everything and he said im covered for the bike.
I do not seek or expect coverage for a motorcycle run at the track. I did run my street bike, which has coverage, only because it costs me ~$20/yr. But I am pretty sure I would not have made a claim had I crashed it. Now I run an unregistered, uninsured track-only bike and it would not be any kind of issue.
The easiest answer, of course, is to just not crash.
A number of insurance companies are now adding to their private vehicle insurance policies, "any closed circuit activity", is not covered. Read your policy details carefully.
an interesting article...but it is the internet..

here is the Mass Auto policy- latest edition regarding collision coverage:
"We will not pay if an accident occurs while an
auto covered under this Part is being operated in any prearranged or organized
racing speed, stunting or demolition contest or activity or in practice or
preparation for any such contest or activity."
It's leaves some room for interpretation and I know some claims for bikes have been covered in the past.

+1 This is what my policy essentially says.
From the correspondance my agent:
"You are covered do to trackdays. If it was racing then you would not be covered. As with any claim we would review what happened to confirm coverage. Taking the advanced riding clinic will not reduce your insurance premiums."
Probably why some trackday orgs are called "riding schools".
