Ouch
My fauld - oil + rain + car in front hammers on the anchors clearing an intersection - wheeeee. Not sure even abs could have helped - barely touched the brake (1 finger) had she tucked.
End result, one slightly mangled crashbar, and my right thumb sprained. Gear - worked perfectly
That's why we wear our gear kids
Glad the end results weren't more serious. Crash bar and sprained thumbs are an easy fix
Giles,
I'm so sorry to hear that!! Nice to know it wasn't too servere, tho. I hope you're back on again soon.

What do you guys recomend for riding pants, the over the pants or actual riding pants? I haven't bought any yet, and I dred the thought of going down on the pavement with jeans. Tim
Yup - gear is the key!
(Anyone know if lister insurence covers gear?)
Feeling a right prat - sat pn hanscom drive waiting for my wife - asked for an escort home as my front brake hand is kind of fucked
Piccies later![]()
I'm so sorry to hear about your mishap Giles - just glad you're relatively OK.
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
Glad you are OK!
Netra... you're probably going to end up with both types of pants if you keep riding a long time.
Overpants are more convenient.. but they are way more likely to leak in the rain, and they're harder to get a really good fit. Regular riding pants tend to be more waterproof, fit better, and be more protective. (The zippers down the leg of overpants is a failure point)
If you already have a jacket try to get something that zips into your jacket at least somewhat.
Giles, glad you're OK. Bikes can be fixed. Do you need it brought anywhere I have a truck/trailer... Let me know.
Doug
I wear a full leather suit sidis's and gauntlets when I'm riding but that's just me, my opinion is that if you are going for a mild/short ride commute over pants are fine but for an all day ride I'll take my leathers but I wear a lot more gear than most.
Damn glad to hear you are ok Giles and even more so knowing you and that you wear atgatt, you and that BMW are pretty tough.
damn man. glad you made out ok though.
on the gear - money well spent
Rode the beast home
Sum total so far is a crashbar + scuffed cylinder head + dinged helmet. not bad considering.
typing one hande is tricky, wife didnt go for 'helping' me with my zipper to pee
will see if i can claim suit + helmet tomorrow - if so will bite and insurance the lot
(gear, for those interested. Oxtar Infinity boots, hein gericke gloves - i forget the exact model, rev'it infinity oversuit (which is literally totally undamaged, amazing), shoei tzr lid)
Ha....embarassin' isnt it! Glad you're OK dude!!!
....been there done that...cept I somehow broke four falanges??? in my foot...
See you Sunday!!!
....right?!?

Oh man! Glad you're alright!

I'm gonna buy that suit, already spent 1000$ in rev'it gear anyway
what model bwm?
i did close to 200 miles today in the rain on the gsa.
i had one guy try and take me out on 128 and had traffic come to a screeching stop on rt2 later in the day.
iv'e never been someone who wanted or liked abs, but let me tell you on the gsa i'm loving it. you can get on the brakes as hard as you want in the wet and be amazed by the amount of traction there is and how fast the bike will stop.
i was a good test for the revit gear and yes i got wet, so i will be using my rain gear over the revit gear in the future.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
it probably wouldn't had made and difference, but i'm loving it.
i hammered the brakes hard on rt2 tonight (no oil just standing water) and came to a hard fast stop.
i also did 8 miles of dirt tonight and was happy being able to brake mid corner to go around a sizable branch without woring about loosing the front.
it's good to hear the boots and gear held up well, i'm wearing the same stuff and am still not sold 100% on wearing it instead of my leathers.
