American Motorcyclist says:
I enjoy living in Boston, sailing in Boston Harbor, etc. But - really? We admit some handicapping for this jewel of the Northeast, but if you are going to live with serious winters, Boston is a decent big city for Motorcycling.
First, Boston is a major city, with the conveniences you'd expect. There are world class restaurants, great neighborhoods and plenty of opportunity.
While the great riding around Boston might not be obvious, it's there if you look. Sweeping back road rides take you north into New Hampshire and west toward Amherst. There is the expected traffic, but a ride to Cape Cod is always a good time, and the old country feel that permeates New England area is something you just can't get out west.
And #9 is Cincinnati.

“It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.”
That's just stupid.
Yeah, I was pretty skeptical about that one... It was however the only article I've actually read in American Motorcyclist in a long time...

Man, I understand when they consolidate things like saying Bradley Airport is "Hartford", even though it's 13 miles outside Hartford. But to put Amherst as part of boston at....100 miles away? Are these people drunk?
So Mass = Boston now?

'north into New Hampshire and west towards Amherst' doesn't imply to me that either is considered part of Boston. To ME the article is simply saying if you must live in a big city & you ride, there's some really decent riding not too far from Boston. Which is true, isn't it? It even points out that if you look hard enough you'll find great riding around Boston. Which given it's context doesn't seem to mean IN Boston, rather in relation to Boston...
I think...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?

I didn't read the article but riding in Boston at night is really nice, like late night, after 11, roads are empty usually

Yeah I ride out to maynard, acton area sometimes. It's only like 20 or 30 minutes on rt. 2 if you time it right.
Like I said they say, nothing stops a party barge.

Half the people I work with insist I "just have to" take the bike to the cape. For some reason it is the vacation spot of spots amongst these people. Of course they are also the beige camcord crowd. So I am unsure.
Born and raised in New England and I've never been past the canal.

awwwwww yeaahhhh
with the mention of restaurants, seems the article weighed "where you live" + "where can you ride within a day"
for that, Boston is great...city is awesome place to live with something for everyone. Small and cozy, tons of culture, tons of love, tons of tits. Yeah, you have to ride an hour or 2 to get to any good riding, but it's possible to *live* there and do some good riding on the weekends.
And yes, outside of the northeast, Boston = MA.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
November it is.
Just mind the gap.
Went there in early March this year with another couple.
4 hours of driving around later (in the Miata so it wasn't bad, plus my friend is Phillipino so we looked the part of lovers), including driving in/around/through Wellfleet, still couldn't find a single god damn place to get a decent plate of oysters. The Cape is DEAD in the winter.

the Cape is best done in September. still a few stragglers on the weekends so places still have stuff but not enough people to totally get in your way. plus still great weather.
