2007 ducati 1098 w/ performance upgrades

I was down at Dunbar in Brockton last week, They have a ton of discounts on last years 999's. I'd imagine if you waited till this winter/fall, if Ducati dealers are still carrying 999's you could probably get some kick ass deals. I know Dunbar had like 8 used ones in their show room and it didn't seem like people were breaking down the door trying to buy em either. The 1098 pretty much killed the resale value of the 999 overnight huh? Still think the 999's a great bike but the front end could stop a clock with it's looks......

A very small number of the 1098's that shipped worldwide had ECU problems. Hence in that add it says the "ECU has been flashed" already.
I've spoken to about 8 1098 owners out here in the Bay Area and they all are all stoked on the bike. Can't wait to ride one. 3 more weeks until I hustle one around Loudon :-D

Mine stalls! Sometimes I can 100 miles with no problem and other times a run down the street to the store and it'll stall 5 times. I've gotta e-mail ducati and tell them to fix it for me. They've been having owners bring them to local ducati dealers to replace the ECU's ...free of charge of course. When they set them up in Italy, supossedly they set em up real lean to pass US emissions.....from what I've heard.
Kurt can vouche for the stalling problem. And the end of our ride today I was rolling to a right hand turn/intersection....stalled then the rear wheel locked up on me. A few more of those and someone's going to whack me from behind! I guess if that happens I'll talk to my lawyer and I'll own half of Ducati.................HA!

Yes, the stalling is due to ECU. As you said, contact your local dealer ASAP and it'll get sorted out. It's been a pretty painless and quick operation now that the issue has been figured out.

I got my first close up look at one today. Its a beautiful looking bike but you can tell its Italian. It has that Ducati bucket of bolts sound and its moody when running. I dont think I would be happy with a bike that just randomly stalls for no apparent reason.
yeah italian temperament is kind of tough, my father in law is strait from italy so i can attest for that first hand
but my m620 (by NO means a super bike) was smooth like butter and not temperamental. although i did blow up a piston at just over 6k![]()

I am happy with my 1098s , I rhode it around senic nh and up mt washington into vt rhode the nothc and into canada and home without a problem or 1 stall. but back home sitting at lights it stalls fro no reason..was told it was a kick stand switch on down shifting to first, if its the ecu I am getting a race ecu anyway.
The only problem I had was at bike week the rad cracked and started squirting fluid all over my leg, its a known problem the ducati will not fix and dunbar wanted $1,200. and a 2 week wait to get me a new one so I bought a 2011 rad off e bay with the defect fixed.
I was thinking about getting a triumph daytona 675r like my wifes next because its the best bike I have ridden but its broken down on every trip and cost her $1000s to repair and has been in the shop most of the season. I have never had any problems with any of the older ninjas I had at all but still will not go back.

Then youre first!
i love this line. if it was a known problem then why wouldnt ducati cover the repair or issue a recall?
i get the "its a known issue" line at least twice a day. if its a known problem then why dont i know about it since i work at the dealership?
usually i know about the "known problems" before customers do
