    my 1st bad Ebay experience

    AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im soooo pissed! about 2+ months ago (maybe longer since it was before the classic) i ordered a front rim from one guy and a set of rotors from another. rotors show up no prob. i open them...yup...theryre rotors..back in the box. a few days later the rim shows up. the Classic comes around and i decide that ill put the rotors on the wheel since ive got some time and my tools. open rotors, glance at bike."they look different" go to put them on...not even close. so when i get home i send this guy a message on 6/15 and this is how it ensues:

6/15 me- i have a question for you.
6/16 him -WHAT IS THE QUESTION?
?/?? me-(but probably the next day, ive lost this email) but basically i describe that the rotors are wrong and ask if he can do something about it. im very polite and understanding as i know that mistakes happen
6/17 him-YOURE RIGHT, I ACTUALLY THINK THOSE LOOK LIKE R6 ROTORS. GEEZ. WELL, I THINK I HAVE ANOTHER SET I CAN SEND YOU (LET ME DOUBLE CHECK) OR YOU CAN HAVE YOUR $ BACK.
6/26 me-so whats the story? havent heard back from you in a while. what are we gonna do to remedy this? im not pissed mistakes happen, but i need rotors.
6/27 him-send those back and Ill switch them out
7/15 me-OK man... wheres my stuff? i needed those this weekend i have a race and need those rotors. if you havent sent them already then you need to overnight them to me.
if you dont have any to swap then i need a FULL refund. that means the $100 for the rotors + shipping + the $10 it cost me to ship them back to you.
please let me know what you are doing...ASAP
7/15 him-SORRY, BEEN OUT OF TOWN WITH THE NATIONAL GUARD. ILL GET THEM OUT TOMORROW.

this is what i just sent him today as i still havent seen my items and even if he sent them ground from Cali they should be here.
7/25 me-now im ANGRY! i told you i needed those rotors by last weekend and i still havent seen them. you said you were sending them out last Wed. and i told you to overnight them. even if you 3 day them w/ sat delivery they should have gotten here in time but you obviously did neither. its been OVER a week now and this whole scenario has been going on since the 16th of JUNE! i thought you were gonna be a stand up guy about this, you made a mistake and you were going to remedy, i even returned the wrong rotors in good faith. but NO. here i sit with no rotors almost 2 months after i purchased them from you. LAST CHANCE!! OVERNIGHT THEM TO ME NOW!!! or i will stop being nice.

never had to deal with this. whats my next step? do i contact E bay?

Contact eBay. And if you payed with Pay Pal contact them as well. I almost got ripped off on eBay once, but it was taken care of through them.

File a claim with paypal now. You only have 45 days from original purchase to file a claim. If he comes through, you can close the claim, or it will auto-close.

He sent you the wrong item. You may end up eating the return shipping, but at least you'll get most of your money back.

File claims with everyone you can. Keep EVERYTHING documented, and give the guy negative feedback if you can.

Paypal will cover you for the amount you paid no problem.
Not sure about the shipping back though.

If the guy has over 50 feedbacks, Paypal covers up to $2000.
I think its only $250 if he's under that.

Paypal is the way to go just for this reason.

Re: my 1st bad Ebay experience

I've been active on ebay for over 5 years and had my first bad experiences this spring. I sold 6 items in april-may. 1 guy never payed, one only sent 4 for the item and would not pay for shipping, and the other 4 took 2-4 weeks to pay for what they won. I'm not sure if it's the economy or what that have turned people into idiots.

The problem is that paypal will only cover you if he has enough funds in his paypal account for them to take back.

File a claim with ebay, paypal, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, dispute the charge on your credit card / with your bank. That should do it.

You always have more recourse... you could contact his local authorities, since you have a trail of paper/email proof

ive worked for an eBay based autoparts company part time for a couple years now and we always send new parts before asking for the incorrect ones that we sent.

This isnt worth the time. Way more involved that you would think and not for ~$100.

You can still contact paypal. They will give you the money back and put a hold on the guys account until he pays PayPal back. PayPal will give you the amount that you paid, no return shipping costs, minus their percentage fee. eBay really has no recourse in a sale that goes wrong. They wont pay you, they wont get you new parts, all they can do is cancel the guys account, which, in turn, will make him just create a new one.

How many feedback does he have? Is it reputable? If its still in good standing giving him a neg will have more affect and hopefully get a fire under his ass.

In light of all this Oxx, do you still need rotors? I might have a spare set but will have to do some digging.

7/26 him-sorry, i got called up by the national guard a few weeks ago. ill be back in town tomorrow.

7/30 me-yeah, you used that excuse already, and then told me you were sending them out the following day and didnt. did you actually do it this time? if not then just give me my money back. ive had it with your bullshit games. you dont need to be home to send money so no excuses. i want what i paid you PLUS the $10 it cost me to send them back. i should charge you an aggravation fee.

Paypal said tough shit too. i guess its my own fault for not checking the merchandise beforehand. i cant even leave feedback because its been too long. it was just a timeline of events. i bought the rotors, then 2 weeks later i bought the wheel, then i had to order bolts from suzuki so that took a week also. by the time i had everything in hand it was all just too late.

Re: my 1st bad Ebay experience

I had my first bad experience earlier this year as well. Bought a truck part and the guy never sent it, then I could tell by the emails he acted like I was lying and I wanted him to send a 2nd one...finally I get a box and its a totally different/useless part (funny, it was a part for an old motorcycle hand controls) and then I called him out on it and he got bent and told me to F myself. I ended up disputing it with paypal, they said none of the emails hold any water because I could "modify" the text. So I took pictures of the UPS box, the part inside and all that shit and ended up getting my money back due to those pictures I faxed them. That guy was such a douche.

Hope you get your money from this knob!

So...you have some R6 rotors for sale?

Sorry to hear about the troubles. I also had my first bad experience with ebay just last month- I got ripped off on an R6 gas tank.

    That's not true.

a few years ago I bought a chatterbox, that did not work. Paypal refunded my money in full, and he had proof of shipment.

Why would the guy be asking for your address now??? Shows you he never intended to send out the replacements. People suck.
