so first off im heading down a back road to do some electrical work for family. i feel my phone ring so i wait for the first spot good enough to pull over. i spot a service road to a power station that is paved so i pull off. i get to almost a complete stop....and the front washes outand i fight the pig (first gen fz1 509lbs wet) all the way to ALMOST the ground. it just about touches and slowly slowly taps the left frame slider
and i pick it back up, did i mention it weighs 500lbs?
problem adverted and im off. as i get closer to my destination i feel something funnythats not right? huh. so i arive and throw it on the center stand and check the rear wheel and its got a little movement side to side
great at this point im 30 miles from home and its mostly highway riding.
so yeah chuck it does suck to ride with a smoked wheel bearing. that was the sloooowist i ever rode home and i tried to turn with the handlebars cut the corners out and go as slow as possible.
thank you, that is all.

You are alive and the bike is not totalled.
You did not get hurt and you can fix the bike.
Oh yeah ... it could get worse ... I think you did a great thing and got home safely on top of that.
Just another way of looking at it. I call it good luck!
Frozen bearing ... locked rear wheel ... high side ... pain and suffering
Yup ... you did real good!
+1. nice job surviving... i remember the first time i laid my katana down at like .000083mph. 461 dry, with a full tank of fuel, so probably about 510 or 515... stepped into a pothole, felt it start going down, and mustered all my strength. It was just barely not enough, and so it slowly and gracefully went down... i pulled one of my traps trying to get it back up, cuz i had just started riding and didn't know the proper technique, so i used my back and adrenaline to lift the sucker back onto the rubber side![]()
hurray, strikethrough!

fortunately the tire was not that loose, or i would have had to put it in a truck.

My rear bearing was so messed up that the wheel moved back & forth a lot.
I've heard horror stories of front wheel bearings letting go and locking up, throwing the rider over the bars. I wouldn't want to experience that.
