I bet it makes good tq numbers though. I know the can-o-tunas got gixxer engines to, the older style of air / oil cooled engines at least.

As for the 2007 gixxer 1k, it's my first litre bike as well. I've ridden an 03 gixxer 1k and the 07 stomps the piss out of it, power, handling, etc. I don't have the luxury of riding the aggressive mean 05/06 and 09. Now I want to though.

Anyhow make sure the recalls were done. Stator and ISC. If it's completely stock you can drop a lot of weight with a single slipon. Dropping a tooth on the front sprocket wakes it up nicely. A 190/55 tire alone is a nice improvement over the oem size of 190/50.

One con is the OEM radial master on the front. It feels like a sponge and it's the biggest complain I've seen about the bike (minus the stuff from the 05/06 guys). I added a set of Spiegler stainless lines and that helped a lot.

The other big con is the computer controlled OEM damper should be removed and shot with a rifle of your choice and replaced. I've had 5 tank slappers this year alone, but then again every year the roads just get worse and worse up here. If you will be on rough roads, buy a new damper.

Overall I love the thing. Every time I get on it it amazes me and gives me numerous ear to ear grins. If it has stainless lines on it already and an after market damper, I think you'll be quite happy. The riding position of the gixxers is pretty aggressive, but the 07 pegs are adjustable. Not sure if the older ones are or not. As others said, the power curve is pretty smooth. Under 8k its a big baby, above 8k it's a fire breather...hang onto it. It seems to be quite content cruising around 5-6k. From there snap the throttle and you'll be at arrest me speeds before you can blink, it pulls like a mf'er without down shifting.

    Any other questions ask away
    Sweet thanks!!!

I gots the taylor made exhaust on it with PC. Have to get sliders on it asap. Removing the stock ass slimmed her up quite a bit (have the stock pipes if you bitches need em).

I sent a PM to Mike - awesome!!!

I picked her up today. She's mine. It's nutty. To think that the 05/06 is that out of hand similar to the 05 ZX10R widow maker, I would be afraid to ride it.

Thanks for all of your help and info Gang.

Kickass. Throw some miles on it and give another report of what ya think.

And yea, it comes with a full sized rudder, I mean fender, on it. Puig makes a pretty slick eliminator and you can get the LED light for it. It looks even better with the passenger pegs removed as well, if you don't ride 2-up.

Glad you like it, now you can see why us gixxer guys are always ear to ear

It fills the void left over after removing the cat-box and dual cans nicely. It looks pretty sweet and they sound nice, at lower revs at least. I've not heard one spooled up but I bet they howl.

I chose to fill that left over void with Ti mid-pipe and a race mount M4 shorty carbon can....everyone knows what Ti looks like after a few heat cycles

If yours pops on decel, well, "pops" being comparable to a 12 gauge going off, lift the tank and on the right side of the airbox, closest to the front, pop that tube off (PAIR / fresh air tube) and stick a marble in it and plug it back in. If ya want. It got annoying after awhile and it'll blow the packing out of the can in time.

Have fun in the twisties...it'll corner like it's on a rail.

Haha I love the poppin on decel. Jeez...droppin a marble?? that's gangsta repair right there lol! Yeah guys that taylor made is pretty sweet comes with carbon fiber pieces that go great with the lines of the bike. I'll take some pics but did immediately think what R7 said...it's funny...I'm finding that I'm prejudice...against myself lol

I drove by a retail shopping center yesterday and looked over and saw my reflection. I shit you not - I said "squid" without any thought to it - first impulse. I had full gear on sans ridin pants but all I saw was the bike. What a dick I am! ...Guess that makes me an uppity GSXR owner?

GSXR - It's so fucking mint...if you have the means...I highly recommend your picking one up.

In my opinion, yamaha's have the best finish quality and product out there... CPCS nothing sounds nicer. Don't hate just a statement/opinion. However, the GSXR ... is phenomenal. I took the tank and plastics off and had a minor look around thus far. I can't quite figure out where to fuck it...yet.

    Re: 2007 GSXR 1000

Well, a pipe plug from copper tubing to keep the nitrogen in and moisture out (moisture and refridgeration systems == bad news) or the marble work well.

Those are free and done in a few minutes. The block off plates and all the other junk, to save a pound or two of weight, will cost, uhm, a lot. I think the block off plates (billet alum) that I was looking at, were about $160. Then once you remove that crap it'll throw a code on the combo meter I think. You'd then have to snip a wire in the harness off the ECU...I think, not 100% sure on this. Kind of like what I had to do when I disabled the SET (exhaust valve). You can pop the cables off and zippy tie them out of the way, but I didn't stop there, I yanked the actuator and cables out. Snip the wire, taped it off and no codes. The spring on the valve holds it wide open.

Interesting on how you thought squid when you saw the reflection. I just think "I'm riding one of the nastiest production bikes built"

Yep plug up that tube if you want to get rid of the pops. I plugged mine up with a tapered silicone plug.

Vicious. I put the M4 GP on my K7 1000. It's fucking obnoxiously loud. I recently put the 'quiet' baffle back in it and its not so offensive, I was getting dirty looks from people mowing their lawns when I'd ride by. Not that I really give two shits, I have a nonstop parade of posers on straight piped Harleys that go past my house all day and night. The real downside is that every LEO in the area can hear exactly what you are doing...
