For the majority of us who don't motorcycle year round, this week's warm up started spring in motion.
The VFR1200X is out of the workshop behind the house and back in the garage. I got out for about 50 miles yesterday and this afternoon brought the HF lift home for $299.
Any other stirrings? Ride plans? New bike plans?
My new bike is in the garage and waiting for me to register it.

Installed battery on my Hawk and she fired right up! Was misting around my house. Still went for a 5 minute rip.

I've got the week of March 5-11 off and am hoping there's at least some 50 degree or better days.
Should have a fuel pump for the 636 this week and then that will be ready to go.
Vulcan that I just picked up last weekend needs front blinkers which I'll order from BJ'z tomorrow. Took the driving lights off since they were all rusted and looked meh. Did an oil and filter change this weekend and adjusted the idle, so just need to flush brake fluid and drive shaft oil. Hopefully get her registered and insured this week.
Took the YZ125 out of the basement today. Started on the 4th kick and ripped her around the yard for a couple laps until I couldn't feel my hands. Jumped the snow pile that was left next to the driveway a few times as well.

Fired up all 3 Ducati's. Put about 30 miles on the streetbike and about 3 miles on each of the 2 848 racebikes....ya know, for good measure.
Also ripped up and down the street on the YFZ450....
Busa is out .
New sneakers, brakes, and a oil change.![]()

The sound of the first few cranks turning into the brief rough rumble before settling into the first warming exhaust burble of spring.
Better than crocuses!
Lift took very little time to unpack and set up. As others have commented, the hardware is shite, but can easily be replaced.
One question though. The instruction suggest bleeding and checking the hydraulics, but I cannot locate the bolt where the fluid would go in? Anyone have the answer?
Rode to work 3 days last week plus 4hrs on Saturday as well.
Took a quick ride last week, about 5 miles. Was thinking about riding to work today since I've got a dentist appointment before work and I'm thinking by the time I get out of here it'll be decently warm
I got her out of the garage and took her for a couple rides. The whole cold pavement spinnin the back end up in 3rd gear was a bit interesting, but at least when it down poured Saturday night on my way up to Home Depot, I was able to put the top up quickly.

Shined up the Ducati and caught fish all weekend, feels like spring until snow on Friday hits.

Traded my H-D Road Glide for a BMW K1600 GTL in November. It now has 1800 miles on it. (more miles than I put on the RG all last year) It is the perfect bike for this weather. I rode it over 200 miles yesterday. I went out to Middletown CT to check out some famous breakfast place. O'Roukes Diner. Honestly the most amazing breakfast I have ever had. The route was all CT minor routes with RT66 and the like. No heated clothing but quilted isulated Dainese sport pants and BMW touring jacket, Alpinestars touring boots, thinner winter gloves, balaclava... The heated grips and seat do a great job keeping me from freezing. Plus if the sun is out and its 34F it doesn't seem that bad.
Send cash... I need a track day
I didn't ride ride, to busy with winter home projects, and as usual, the new Italian ride is at the shop. I did slosh around in the mud a bit with the YFZ450R for a bit tho
Yamaha
Cleaned both the CRF (needed it; been riding throughout the "winter") and the CB1100, then promptly rode the CB1100 into a brief rain shower.
There's a car wash in Somerville whose sign reads "a clean car is a process; never give up." Touché.
Put the SV on Craigslist for more than someone's going to be willing to pay; ogled some pretty sweet-looking track bikes here and on CL.
Took the CRF to work this morning. Got the bike fever pretty bad.

Took my VFR1200 out for a quick ride around town Saturday. felt great to be on two wheels.
not looking forward to setting up an appointment at the local dealer to have a shit load of maintence work done( valve, bleeding brakes and clutch, fork oil, spark plugs and something I'm forgetting), that is way above my skill level. Going on vaca the beginning of april and every time I look at our credit card my wife has added more stuff to our vacation to Australia.

Getting the VFR1200X fitted for serious touring. Givi Trekker 33l side cases in black, quick release frame and aluminum plate to mount my top case.
All in for $400 less than the OEM side cases.
I've had great luck with Givi and aluminum cases are overkill for my purposes.
Now to think about destinations....
still have 2 feet of snow pack, down from the 4 feet we had
road is getting fuckin muddy though
Still 100ft of snow, ice and mud between my bikes and the street. Entertaining the neighbors with the DR a bit but dying to get on the street

Huh. Never heard of that. I'll have to give it a try!
Got my fuel pump for the ZX today thanks to Matt!
Insurance lady is taking forever to get a quote on the cruiser. Should have that all set to go tomorrow. Front blinkers should be in any day too.
Perfect timing, because my car has strange sounds and clunks coming from the tranny...
