Spring is time to do that work you thought you would do over the winter.

Scooter ECU flash, Change oil on two bikes, replace broken parts on race bike, Install Lacomoto belly pan onto the R1 after installing Akra mid pipe to match the slip-on. Man o man is that thing nasty now. I sort of regret the cat removal as it is no longer stealthy. It's as loud F___. Probably up as loud as Rossi's M1.

This is the old plate for the top box. I was kludged on with a piece of wood between the bike's rack and the mounting plate.



This nifty piece is much slicker and sets the top box about an inch lower. According to my calculations, this will increase my aerodynamic efficiency by 0.0045% and also improve downforce by 0.00256%. Overall it should cut lap times by 0.000087 seconds. Plus, it's shiny!



Here are two views of the quick release side racks. They were stupid easy to install. Of course the one tip we all learn eventually is to tighten nothing until everything fits. I think they are about at streamlined to the bike as possible.





And here's the complete setup. I already had the top box. The side cases are slick. The Givi Trekker stuff is really good and although not aluminum, really durable.

My wife took my son and his buddies up to ski today. Currently 1°, wind 10mph gusting to 20mph. In Boston 'tis a balmy 9° but wind is 24 gusting 38. Don't think I'll be riding today.

I had to go pay Excise Tax today. Is that a sign of spring? Well I took the Harley to pay the bills at town hall. I pulled a few wheelies on it but don't judge me. It's just a way to get the blood flowing.

It's been a depressing week. Although I got the cases mounted, I didn't get out at all...

Even though my teaching job was on spring break, I had so much grading, prep and "side" consulting work to do that I've been buried all week.

To be optimistic, we jump the clocks ahead this weekend and that opens up another hour of daylight at the end of the day for those short, mental health rides that can make a tough day end on a better note.
