alot of 1000's are running them to with no issue as well, but people see nesr as the center of the motorcycle universe and if one person has an issue with something on their bike then it must be true and will happen to everyone elses bike...regardless of the countless other examples elsewhere that prove otherwise
What is the benefit of switching to a 520? Cost and and less rotating mas?

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Lightening unsprung, rolling mass (i.e. wheels, chain, etc) is much more effective than reducing sprung weight. Even if it is only a pound, there is a difference. Perhaps minimal, but it is still there. Zero reward may be going a little far. To us mortals it may not mean much, but if it can take a tenth off a lap time, there is a reward.

I don't think a 520 would make up a 10th.

i'm not a racer so i wouldn't know, but i can see the argument that the reduced rotating mass can increase responsiveness in acceleration

I'm not saying that it represents NESR at all, just the majority of opinions on here are based off that. SO people who just frequent this site might be under the impression that a 520 is not sufficient for a 1000cc motorcycle, while there are other forums specific to this guys bike (1000rr.net, 1000rr.us) that have about 2/3rds of the members using a 520 kit with ZERO issues at all. Many of them race with it, and many also use it for daily street/track day use. People a lot of times see what is written here and believe that it is the ONLY way based on what is told to them from here without doing research.
My new avatar is perfect for this thread..Good read
I'm surprised how many care whether they get 20k out a 520 set-up or 30k out of a 530, most people don't don't put that many miles on there bikes.
I look @ it as a wear and tear item like tires.
Oh and I've had no problems w/520's on my bikes.![]()
I keep forgetting about that.
