520 Conversions

Only suggesting that steel sprockets are better for longevity. I'm certain the 520 chains can go the distance unless your name is Jay Holland.

I'm sure I could have made it last 30k if I rode like a puss.

I'm surprised how many care whether they get 20k out a 520 set-up or 30k out of a 530, most people don't don't put that many miles on there bikes.

I look @ it as a wear and tear item like tires.

Oh and I've had no problems w/520's on my bikes.

It's likely that those posting about longevity tend to put lots of miles on. Also, of people looking for new chains and sprockets to replace a 530 set, It would be reasonable to assume that most already wore out the 530, and that takes quite a few miles...

Hard anodized sprockets will wear almost like a steel, not quite as strong as steel, because, internally it is still aluminum, but far better than machined aluminum.
