Sure it does. If your going to work our just around town on it, its not that nice to you. But the harder you beat on it the better it feels. Just my .02

I love my 848. I rode it home from Rochester, NY (6 hours) and I was surprisingly in good shape...probably could have ridden it a few more hours too! I purchased new bar ends for the trip but that was it. It could have been that it was a gorgeous day and I was uber excited to bring it home.

Love my EVO so far. Picked it up friday, only put about 200miles on it most of which was today. I'm not a big dude so I lean over the tank pretty far but I could ride this thing for hours and be fine. It's pretty versatile, great around town and on the highway. Obviously not as much power as my '05 gixxer 1K but I'd take this over that any day because of the braking and suspension. After reading a few Ducati forums, I had them drop a tooth in the front before purchasing it. As for vibration through the bars, I don't notice anything major, it's a twin, deal
Could use a more comfortable seat though.

Ray...just want to be sure you give the 848 a fair shake. If you test ride one you will find yourself hitting the rev limiter pretty often the first hour. It really takes a bit of experience if you're coming from I4's to appreciate the powerband and the way it's put to the ground on the Ltwin. Once you 'get it' though, you'll really appreciate the difference.

(Note the term 'difference'. Not saying one's better than the other. But they are very different!)

    Good luck...tough choice!

    Re: 848 evo VS, s1000rr

I test drove the s1000rr last summer, had it out for about 45 mins. Here's my take: 0-120mph fast enough to suck the eye balls into the back of your head, this is no joke, CRAZY fast/torque through the entire RPM range! Extremely easy to throw into corners, comfortable in the seat, but the bar vibration really did get annoying after about 30 mins. Since 300-400 mile rides are something I'm into, I saw the "numb hands" being an issue. The suspension seemed decent but the brakes were a tad dicey, especially under hard braking, that could've been do to the ABS which I have never had on previous bikes. The stock exhaust was way louder than you would expect and I remember the sales person telling me an after market Full System would drop significant weight. Ergonomically though, very comfortable.

    Those are my 2 pennies.

Thanks Dave, I noticed the whole rev limit thing when I rode Jeff's (03worc9) Aprilla. I found my self shifting a lot on his 1k. Which was def weird to say the least. I sat on the 848 and it's a bit more aggressive than what I am use to. Being that I like 300+ mile rides I can see this being an issue. BUT on the other hand, I can see that bike being a lot funner to throw around once we hit the twisties.

I'm with you on the whole bar vibration thing. I dont know how I feel about numb hands. I have to do my research to see if heavier bar ends really DO make a difference. I see comfort issues on both bikes....

Would you rather tell the ladies you ride a 'Ducati!' or 'BMW?'

(of course, you are required to say Ducati with an Italian accent..)

Sure, if you don't like the tone of twins' vibration and Ducati seats, my bikes are twins and I dont find them uncomfortable
