    helmet ventelation

i have a hjc CL 14 helmet...i realize that its not a high end helmet...the other day on a ride i realized that the vents pretty much suck, not much air(if any) seems to circulate in there...im sure that some of you have switched to better helmets....do you get better circulation for the higher price?..what features do you get for the higher price...and what helmets (brands) do you prefer most?....thanks....i might be in the market soon

Never wore one of those but My Arai RX7 is great. Opening or closing one vent makes a difference. The down side is its noisy but its a fair trade off.

I went from a Scorpion and a KBC to a Shoei RF-1000. Much better ventelation with the Shoei. I can actually feel air circulating through the vents. The Shoei does fog up a bit more than the Scorpion though.

I went from an HJC CL14 to a Shoei RF1000 and it is a tremendous difference.
When I opened the vents on the HJC...nothing changed with regards to the air flow.

My Shoei is incredibly well ventilated.....you definitely get what you pay for

.......thats another "issue" with the HJC helmet....i got caught in a torrential downpour last wednesday (going west on 302 in crawford notch)aside from the hard wind and rain, the shield was fogging up and i had to keep wiping and cracking it to maintain any vision...i know that riding in the rain has visual limitations, but it pretty much sucked and im hoping to find a better way to deal with that down the road...

    Try these Anti-fog wipes

As far as helmets go my AGV has decent ventilation, not the best but it isn't bad. It doesn't fog much either unless it is extremely moist out and I am breathing heavy with all the vents shut. I am going to be getting a Shoei pretty soon and I have heard they have very good ventilation.

Some of the Shoei RF-1000 models on sale for $300, $175 off list. I bough the Camber model, flat black with a script type Shoei on it in gray. They have other colors.

Love my Arai RX7. It's a great helmet that flows very well. When it's cool out, I have to close some of the vents.

same here. HJC CL14 --> Shoei RF1000. dont really notice the difference, but that's because i ride with my visor up all the time. i can tell that the Shoei is much quieter when I flip down the visor on the highway.

+1 moved to from an Arai to a Shoei RF1000, ventilation is much better. I also think that Sharks have good airflow as well.

All the top brands are good Shoei and Arai are great. You get what you pay for so the question is, is your head worth $400 - $500? I think so.
