So, I just sprang for the Bohn armor adventure pants, we'll see how those do - and the final thing I'm in the market for is a back protector.
There have been threads about this, but I just have one question: after debating what kind of armor to get, and initially planning on getting the Icon Field Vest...despite my poor-college-student budget, I've decided it's best to play it safe, and plan to get the Knox Contour back protector (Knox Contour Back Protector)
thing is, it's $225, which is a shit-ton. Sooo...
How can I get this for cheaper?! Anyone out there with any connection or info that would like to help a young rider in need, interested in keeping my spine in one piece, I'd definitely appreciate it.
Any ideas? Also, any input, if you think it's a bit much for just (albeit spirited) street riding.
Thanks!

Don't they claim the straps on those help protect your ribs? I never worn one but it seems like a very good back protector, like top of the line. If your on a budget, you can't go wrong spending $100 on another brand like say Dainese.<--- I use that one. Then again, a few months from now you may say to yourself "why didn't I just pay the extra $100 for the Knox? It wouldn't really matter now" Its up to you.![]()

I have the knox contour. It's awesome.
I got it on huge closeout from oncycles.com , I think they were going out of business, for $125.
However, make sure you get the 'race' version as it is the only one I've seen out there that really provides ample tailbone/coccyx coverage even while bent at the hip.
If you can't find it cheaper, I'd still recommend it even at full price.
