I thought there was a past thread on this but I can't find it. Does anyone have experience with buying aftermarket (Chinese) bodywork? Cold tires + sand + idiot-whacking-the-throttle = low side. I had lots of gear on so no damage to me at all. The bike didn't make out so well. Low speed tumble down the road and into a ditch. Damage limited to bodywork. The upper fairing has multiple pieces broken off, as does the belly pan. Both sides and tank just scratched. The bike is a 1999 ZX9R with 60,000+ miles, so it's not worth putting a ton of money into fixing it. I do really like the bike and plan to fix it, I just need to balance cost and value for a 15 year old bike. I don't think I want to go the streetfighter route. To me a bike that big looks odd as a streetfighter. I've been watching ebay for OEM bodywork but there is not much to choose from, at least nothing better than my already rashed set. I could spend $400 on an aftermarket set. It looks decent in pictures, but I am wondering if it is total crap? I am guessing that fixing my rashed bodywork and having it painted will be more than that. Any thoughts?
I put a set on an 03 cbr600rr and they were ok. We had to adjust a few pieces to get them to fit but overall they weren't bad for aftermarket HK stuff.
Got them on Ducati, so far so good with vs few minor details that have to be over looked.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Nice looking ZX6R Expat !
You could just vinyl wrap the stock stuff. I'm having my race bike wrapped for 300 just saying.

Hey...I have a eBay chin hong 3rd gen set on my GSXR. They are not bad have, held up rather well with one mount broke. But they since have come a long way also... I look at these guys if it worth the fix....

I think that'd work if it was scratched, but not cracked. If it's just scratched a little sanding, maybe some plastic repair and new paint would also work. Its hard to get crack patches to hold very well. I am in need of new fairings as well, but parts of my fairings are still probably in the grass somewhere at NYST. I was all ready to try and glue everything back together on my bike, but as I am trying to put the pieces back together I realize I'm missing a few chunks.
I have a set that I bought while I was getting my parts repaired or was sourcing eBay pieces.
They're ok. Fit was ok. Look good from 20 feet away.
Get within 5-10 feet and you see the gaps and the paint mismatch.

I just picked up a set of AK composite bodywork for a zx6. Seems pretty light and flexible. Did a quick search and Have not found anything on line about them yet.
EDIT: just found some info. Looks like it's an older brand that had some good reviews however they don't seem to be in business any longer.
