I watched that Video, I can't believe how fast you poped up, It almost looked like you landed on your feet, it was almost comical how fast you got up.. did not notice as I was going by, I was too concerned with if the guy in front of me was going to just lock up his brakes.. Thank god for gear..![]()
I know you want to stick by your earlier points, but last time I checked, I'm the only one involved in my crash. It was target fixation, pure and simple. If I had leaned and stayed on the throttle, I would have made that corner easily, there was plenty of traction. If you've "fixated" on things and not gone towards them, then all you've done is look at them. Target fixation is all about not only looking, but having your body aim or react towards the point of fixation.
This is incredibly stupid that I have to reinforce the fact that it was my error that caused the crash. I don't "need" to hear that my tires caused the crash, because I know they didn't.
This is an arguement that shouldn't even be happening, my bike and my body had enough of a beating, I don't want to see flame wars started over this, so please drop it.

Cool, then we can now tell Casey Stoner he's good to go !

This is why i hate the "web" sometimes.
Both Kurt and Tonyd made valid comments. But things always don't come out the same when typed compared to saying it in person.
Kurt,
I don't think tonyd had intention of call you directly a "sue happy fuck". But he was stating that Gene had already explained that it was rider error, not tire/mechanic related. And that too many people in out there are jumping to conclusions blaming their wrecks on other factors (which has happened but just not in this particular case). Granted d220's do suck (stock on my SV), but at the pace we were riding with or w/out tar snakes the same outcome would have happened even if he had tires that never magically left the ground. But if i recall correctly the fz6's come with bt020's which are bridgestone's equivalent of d220's which for what Gene is looking for is a perfectly good tire IMO.
As Gene said this shouldn't even be an issue as he has already said what happened, and should've ended there. So everyone should tone the testosterone down a notch and go have a fucking beer, except for Gene..... you need a few tylenol's and a few beer's for that soreness![]()

I'm just glad for you that you didnt target fixate on

Ok so I choose harsher language than was needed, most of the guys around here usually have pretty thick skin. I will pussy foot around when I post from now on.
Now to answer you questions...
Yes I may be an idiot, at least that is what my wife tells me.
Nope, never even been in a courthouse.
I was not at the accident, I just read his post.
Fixating did not make him go down, it only lead him to the edge of the road where From the video and pics, the sand that made him lost traction. If you had ridden through that sand I bet not even great tires would have kept you upright.
You are correct, fixating does not make you crash, but if there was a truck on the other side of the center line you fixated on and you sure would have.
Wow, people's personalities really changed this thread from Hope and Glad he's ok, to your a dick for saying something.
I think you all should just be lemmings and sit quietly!!!!!![]()

Update
Insurance finally totalled it today. Getting almost the full MSRP back, so I'll be back on the road by next weekend. Also have a guy from sportbikes.net donating (yes, for free) a set of new leathers from his soon-to-be online gear shop in exchange for comments and word of mouth advertising.
Glad to hear you're OK - the bike and gear can be replaced...
When the adjuster comes by for the insurance company have the helmet, jacket, gloves, tank bags, and anything else that took damage laying on the bike. If you bought them recently - have the reciepts (get copies from the place you bought them if you have to)
Good luck...
