Thanks for the recommendations, they fit really well...
Yeah, I like mine. I am hoping to pick up some better quality shorty gloves sometime over the winter.
Glad your buddy is the one healing instead of his family. Like others have questioned, any lessons learned about the cause of the get off would be appreciated. If your buddy doesn't know, his insurance company should pay to replace ALL of his gear. Typically it's just his estimates of what he payed for it or what it costs to replace it new from various websites. Make sure he claims it.
We're not talking about insurance fraud here, but if any safety gear has been compromised at all as a result of the accident, it needs to be claimed and replaced. A helmet that struck the ground or scratched (include any extra visors that will need to be repurchased if the model is different), a dent or compression in a back protector, a glove thread that has been rashed through, a boot slider that has been worn down, marks on a jacket or pants, etc. My insurance company even replaced the jeans I was wearing that were scissored by the EMTs. Check with the insurance company as to whether they want to do a physical appraisal, receive pictures of the damaged gear or just a accept a word document stating the purchase price and internet quotes for replacing it all today.
