From people I have talked to and what seems to be conventional wisdom it would seem that you can expect someone to go down for every 2000 miles ridden. It's a ballpark number, just someplace to work from.

If anyone thinks this needs to be adjusted up or down I'd like to hear it.
I think you're trying to put a quantative value on an algorithm that cannot exist due to uncontrolled factors. Such as:
    - each td company has it's own set of rules, and each rider rides his/her own set of riding abilities, and conditions vary from one td to the next, as does volume of riders, and skill of instructors and control staff.

It's no secret that riding the way we do on the track is simply not suitable for the street....for a number of reasons.

We ride the way we do at the track because even with the uncontrolled nature of having 75+ riders of different abilities sharing a given space for the day, it is STILL a more controlled, and therefore safer, environment than the completely uncontrolled/unpredicatable environment on the street. (i.e. no opposing traffic, no kids chasing balls, etc.)

Some would say riding in the rain increases risk of crashes over dry conditions. I would disagree as when it rains, or conditions deteriorate, riders highten their awareness, and ride with a larger performance/ability cushion than in the dry/sunny conditions. Even tho crashes may still occur, they are in no way more likely to have happened than in dry conditions.

Bottom line is, there IS no way to calculate the "average" amount of riders to go down at an "average" trackday because there simply IS no "average".

If you are looking to quantify your risk with a value, maybe you should try a risk-avoidence strategy rather than attempting to employ a risk-reduction strategy on an uncontrollable event, and take up chess instead.

That said, you can count a couple things for certain:
    1. Motorcycles have 2 wheels.....only. They do not stay upright by themselves, and we do everything we can to make them want to fall over, throw us off and toss us on our heads.
    2. Anywhere from noone to everyone, and some people a couple times, have a "more than good" chance of crashing at a td, and
    3. Chicks dig scars

    Good luck

    Mike

I was actually busy rebuilding my bike after going two-for-two at my track days.

When I said it "happens to all the guys" I was just trying to make you feel better about your ED, not trying to make you think it happened multiple times

All I've got to add is this:
If you can't afford to dump it, leave it under the tarp in the garage.
