No, I was just trying to express how I might use this information to think about something.

I know.... and I was just trying to express that the information you were going to recieve wasn't going to necessarily fit what it was that you were trying to think about.

Trust me, I have no problem with people asking questions like this, I just want to make sure the answer i give fits not just the question that's actually being asked, but the question the person is TRYING to ask.

Next time you do a trackday concentrate just as much on what's going on around you as on what you're doing. That someone crashing may take you down. And you may answer your own questions.

You are obviously a numbers person, but I think if you talk about the average track day (especially in the northeast), you need to add so many variables like weather, the area in which the track is in, etc. I dated a person who was a vendor for a well-known trackday org so I have been to many track days at VIR, Summit (Main and Jefferson), BeaverRun, and Pocono (East and FUSA). We woke up to ice on bikes at Pocono in the Fall and had a CR crash on pit out at BeaveRun because it was so cold and rainy. Also the first couple of track days seemed to have a few more crashes as people were dusting off the cobwebs. There was also the factor of location and where many of the riders were coming from as some tended to be a bit more aggressive. But if you are looking at nice weather and a smooth track day, they had around 3 (edit: now that I think about it, I would say 5 to 7) or so.

But that's not the question. I am not asking why. I am asking how much. You are trying to turn a quantitative qualitative.

Insurance companies tends to reference risk by either "hours of exposure" or in transport "miles traveled". Just step back from the picture. Take a deep breath. Just look at the math.

The answer is no one has the answer. You are asking a question that anticipates a numerical value. (Another statistics project perhaps?) And what your are getting are annectdotal replies. It seems clear to me that none of the track day providers on the forum track crashes. Probably for good reason.

So, if you want real data you're wasting your time. It's an entertaining thread. But a waste of time!

Indeed, unless Trickys wife was not his girlfriend or date on prom night. In such a case one could read it as Tricky Mike is a Tricky Pimp, but we already knew that.

And OP, if you do want a truely accurate picture you would need to do a survey with a somewhat large population asking a lot of specific questions to get any real meaningful data. I think that was everyones point. Basically, though, all the statistics in the world don't matter when your sliding down the pavement. Likewise, they are meaningless when you go home after a perfect day.

On my first track day at the NJ Thunder Bolt last summer, I don't know exactly how many bikes were there at the track that day. At the end of the day, they were 20+ bikes crashed. I was lucky I wasn't one of them.
