when you get off the highway to stop at DD's for a sandwich cause you need something greasy for your hangover, then you go get your sandwich... you go back out to your bike. and it wont start!!! Try the fast idle, no go?
grrrr.
The following events then unfold...
notice something strange... all displays have been converted to *metric* kph, centigrade, red line set to 5k, clock set to zero.
Then try to start for next 20 minutes, nothing, lights getting dim, looks bad for the battery and you may be walking the rest of the way to work.
get off bike contemplate who to call for ride. pace angrily. curse to yourself hoping DD customers dont notice.
return to bike for one last try.... put key in, turn to on... starts right up?!?!?

Focking Computers!!!!!
I have heard of this issue with this bike before.
recomended fix... 1/2 farad cap to the CPU power lines to prevent the power dip that causes the reset. (i think it just may be a bit of overkill)

computers are evil.
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
Loose battery connection or dead battery. Pop the seat off and make sure they're seated right. They're notorious for coming loose.

1/2 farad sounds awfully large, that thing would be like 2 inches in diameter and like 3-4 inches long... that's gotta be WAY overkill, but that's just an impression, I don't really know (fyi, I use a 1 farad cap to smooth out power delivery for my car's sound system, which is pushing close to 1000 watts, and you're trtying to help out a tiny little computer module)

take it from the electrical engineer... a Farad is fucking HUGE.
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
thats why i said it was overkill.
but i have a couple of 1 farad caps laying around my house from former car stereo systems. i could drop one in and find out.
maybe i could hide it in a nitrous bottle mounted by the tail someplace. run some 1/0 awg wire to it... yea that would solder right into the CPU hookups. yea yea, that would work.

even more fun:
charge it up, and hand the leads to someone who rides a gay-ass triumph.
